I see people saying Dorsett/Prust...

I hope he turns into a Sean Avery.. A 3rd liner who has some skill as well as the agitating/fighting/entertainment

Avery wasn't a 3rd liner. One of the most efficient top lines we've had since the lockout was Avery-Dubinsky-Jagr. Or when he was with Shanahan and Gomez. Whatever line he played on was usually our best.

Hope we keep him. Not that he's game breaker by any means, but it's not as easy to get quality bottom 6 forward as people say.

I like that he's a pain to play against, can actually win fights when necessary and I really like that I keep reading he's a beast on the forecheck. Possession seems to be an issue, and that could be a very big issue.

Overall, it'll be interesting to see what he can do with more TOI. His AHL numbers were pretty good, that and his age and player type leave some possibility for serious improvement.

Lol, Avery was not a top 6 player. He was sure as hell not a first liner. He topped out at like 40 points.

Anyways, I'm really excited for Lemieux. I heard people saying he 'could be' a 4th liner. He already is and probably can become a solid 3rd line player.

You need guys like this to win. And he will hopefully have good leadership qualities.

Pause... potentially a package deal with McQuaid
I highly doubt it. Gorton's mo has not been flipping prospects obtained in a trade. Everything that he has done has been for a specific reason. Lemieux was brought here because Gorton has seen something in him and he seems to play the type of game that Quinn wants and Gorton tries to build around.

Lemieux likely helps the Rangers, more than the futures he would bring in with a deal. And the Rangers badly need wingers. Would be dumb.

Seems like he has some development left to do as his fancies are shit? Hopefully (if they keep him) he can be an agitating physical pest who can pop in some points and not be a drag on the ice

e: I like the idea of trying to toughen up the lineup without just going straight McLeod goon style

From 2007-2010 Avery scored 58 5v5 points for 1.91 pts/60. He absolutely was a top 6 player. He didn't get the PP time and thus didn't put the huge numbers. Same thing for MArchand in the beginning of his career. He's not any better 5v5 now then he was 8 years ago. But he gets another 25 pts by being PP1.

I haven't seen him play. But if he can turn into a Prust/Avery/Dorsett/Carcillo type player thats a huge win for us. We need a guy like that!

Sidenote: Anyone knows if he can PK?

Lemieux's pdo is pretty high this year, idk how I feel about that
might be a function of how he plays. His goals are usually scored within 10 feet of the net. He's not doing the 3-man weave for Snoop he's going directly to the net with or wihout the puck. His skating is good (not great) his hands are decent and his work ethic is solid. I wish him well, he's 4th line but improving and adapting well to NHL play.

Jets fan here. He will be missed. Kid has 100% heart - does not quit / coast.....EVER.

Most of what you have said seems accurate - top potential of 3rd liner, suspect he could be decent on the PK, but the Jets never game him that opportunity.

One thing that I saw this season, and something that the coach also raved about was his hand-eye co-ordination. He can tip any puck anywhere. Scored a couple of beauty goals that way. If your 2nd PP unit likes a net front screen / deflection type guy - Lemieux could be fantastic for this role.

He will be missed, but hopefully we can put a ring on Hayes finger!

Last week when our clubs played, I came here and posted that you could leave Hayes behind......I guess I was a bit pre-mature, but happy it happened.

Hopefully a great trade for both teams!!!
