That’s 2 years of frustration build up not being able to keep up with the game starting to show.

Guy has been shit talking for a while without being able to back anything up. Happy he got 5, would have prefered 7 or 10. I know leaf fans that say he is as bad as marchand. I don't think he is that bad, and certainly not as skilled.

I thought we should have traded him the year before dopey decided to give him a massive contract in october. He was already done that year.

He should have a heart to heart with brisbois, when you get a big contract and don't perform the entire habs nation comes for you. Don't go on any ski trips would be my recommendation.

What happens in the street and what happens in a hockey game are apples and oranges. You know that.

Paul Byron plowed Makenzie Weegar a few years back from behind in an uncharacteristic bad decision that ended up in a suspension. Byron's still a class act. It's a fast game and sometimes players make bad decisions is a nanosecond. Connor McDavid once got a 6-game suspension and he's as business like and gentlemanly as they come.

out of character? a question of perspective. If we add this to his habit of taking a F*ck*ng Stupid penalty in the last 10 minutes of a tight game then he is totally IN CHARACTER! He is totally useless now and an embarassment to the team.

This is professional hockey not a social safety net. This guy is paid more than all of us on this forum make combined. He is done. In the old days players who were finished they retired before fans could detect their decline...remember Dryden, Lemaire, Cournoyer???? This is a massive embarassment and not calling it out is hypocritical.

In the OLD days players didn't make much. You don't give up millions of dollars. You play or you go on LTIR.

I don't take issue with calling anything out. There is a classy way to do it and a lowbrow way. I just have more respect for players who truly bled and still bleed our colors. And some of the posts here are downright revolting to me. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone grows old and declines. I don't have much more to say than that. We're all entitled to our opinion. Calling people hypocritical for theirs is very, very weak. I'll defer to someone like MSL who's better qualified to determine whether Gally should retire. You're not.
 
Embarrassing fans in this thread. Back when Gallagher was probably our second or third best forward he'd barely get a few pages of discussion per year because there was nothing bad to discuss. Now that he is broken people start to treat him like shit and act like he was never good? Are you kidding me?

Gallagher does his best to sabotage the games and you guys shit on him? He almost single handly lost us that game! He's trying to give us a better pick, come on!

You just proved my point. Is it about winning in the NHL or running an old age country club? Chris Nilan bled our colours but he doesn't play anymore!

Hopefully Gallagher understands that he can no longer perform at this level and finds a way out. I do respect the career he has put together but with every passing game he is hurting his legacy.
Brendan Gallagher and the fans deserve better.

Then sadly he will continue to face the wrath of the fans, that's the bottom line.
When I watch the Habs play I expect the best 20 players, not someone who is only playing because of past performance and is on an immovable contract.

Absolutely agree.............we all could see he was breaking down then, and then at that point MB and his brain of pudding went to work.

Leaf fans couldn't be more wrong about Gally being like Marchand, he is not near as dirty, and as you say not nearly as skilled........poor Gally can barely make a pass connect but every four or five games....

Anyhow, expensive lesson for the kid, he now can work on his skating while down in the Caribbean during his 3 weeks off.

Gally took the money and the offer, knowing he could never live up to it................he owns that responsibility. He was not the idiot who gave him the money and the contract, that clown is now a coffee boy in LA, and was held accountable for such stupidity.

No one, blames Gally for taking the money, we do however hold him accountable for such a poor performance since getting paid.

Just look at his production since making his $$$ payday..............awful.
Gally is aming 8M this year, and Crosby 3M.............let that sink in.
