Player Discussion Brendan Gallagher: all heart, no hands

But but he had 30 goals...twice 6 and 7 years back before massive hand injuries. Look up Tomas Holstrom from the wings, guy was a heart and soul kinda of guy for them that LIVED in the crease, he also had a 30 goal season and a 29. In fact he has better numbers because he stayed healthy, and NO ONE in their right mind would have given that player "elite scoring" status for his great tips and paid him 9 million in a single season.

Listen I liked gally for a few years but you could see the decline and injuries piling up, then the stupid yapping at ex players, current players, refs....Come on guys he may bleed for the habs, but much like lapierre, or tucker I am not crazy about that kind of player staying on the team and taking tons of bad penalties while not contributing nearly enough to account for a bad contract.

I love listening to colby armstrong but his head hunting(esp on koivu) made me hate him with every fiber of my being. That is the last thing in hockey to me. You don't go trying to put guys out with head shots. It already happens way too often without intent.
He should have been suspended for the rest of the season. That type of play is as ugly to hockey as diving is to soccer..

It happens when no-talent plugs just snap after god knows how many plays they keep getting burned on, realize they dont belong, then look to seriously injure someone..

Bergevin has cost Mol$on millions on bad contracts, and lost ticket sales.....concession sales etc

The whole thing was a cluster fu&%
What about the $$ he made Molson by signing Price, Pacioretty & Gallagher to team discount pre-UFA eligible contracts, where all 3 were underpaid?

And yet the franchise value grew 322% from $575M in 2012 to $1850M in 2022 while Bergevin was GM. I doubt Molson is too concerned about lost pocket change from peanut sales.

I was on CapFriendly this morning just surfing around and got reminded again of the great trade for Dvorak. 1st AND 2nd round pick. And it's this year's 2nd round pick, which will likely be a high 2nd rounder.

Winnipeg now has that pick.

He reminds me of Keanu Reeves, sucks at his craft but is some how miraculously still performing.:amazed:
Pretty bad take lol I think Reeves is awesome. Not so much Gallagher with that hit although I met him at the ferry terminal in Tsawwassen where he lives going to Victoria BC. I said “Gally go habs go” and he shook my hand. Seemed like a good guy. Horrible hockey player now though

Everything grew during that time...............valuations have nothing to do with empty seats we have al seen paid for or not................concession sales etc and then of course stupid contracts given out, so if you think he did not lose millions because of Bergevin, good on ya....no worries.

Not a business guy eh............no worries.

Gally makes 8M this year, and 9M next....Investment gone sour........
Not sure it was the right investment to make in the first place, but MB backed himself into a corner

I just find it comical that you're concerned about Molson's pocketbook when his company gained $1.275 BILLION in value over the period that Bergevin was GM.

I'd also suggest that COVID had more to do with empty seats than the GM, but I'm no global health expert.

Absolutely agree.............my point was there were many things MB did poorly that lost Mol$on millions......not that he wasn't around to help him make some, but he lost him money that was not needed to be lost so to speak...

But every GM does no? There isn’t a single GM that hasn’t overpaid their players and are stuck w undesirable contracts, MBs ultimate flaw was an inability to turn 5 top-60 picks in 2012 & 2013 drafts into more than Galchenyuk + Lekhonen.

Had he found a way to use 2012 3OA to trade for Jordan Staal & 2013 for Niederreiter to add to his similar age group core, his legacy would’ve been very different IMO.

Anyways, revisionist history…

I've been on these boards a long time, and I gotta say this thread is easily in the top 5 of worst threads ever. For all who contributed to get it there in the past week, congrats,, this is no small feat considering the standard set on HFB.

Well Done hab fans!

Nothing screams quality like turning on your own, take a bow.

 He's due to make 9 million next year... he ain't quittin'.
Montreal is not obliged to dress him though. It's embarrassing that they still do.:help:

You don't have to play him, just scratch him. It's disappointing that they can't resolve this with all the praise being given to this team.

Turning on our own? I hated pleks and wanted him traded for a LONG time, well before that BS resigning for 9 games that cost us JDLR for absolutely no reason but to give Pleks 3.1 million and get his 1000 game. Something he didn't do for Markov.

And Gally is FAR WORSE than last season playing pleks. So I turned on him 4 years ago, this just makes it worse. A disgrace is pretending he can still play hockey on a team built around youth and speed, where that same icetime you could use to develop chemistry and skills with other future players. Don't remember Byron getting people to come out in his defence, and he was at least as good as Gally is now, and also bled bleu blanc est rouge.
