Player Discussion Brendan Gallagher: all heart, no hands

Terrible play by Gally. Not like him. Not sure why and it doesn't matter. At least this means we're likely to see Roy back with the club until the suspension is done.

Gallagher was always an arrogant, whiny dumbass. Now he's just more of those things, while his body's broken and he's out of shape. One of my most disliked Habs ever.

To think lots of people here wanted him captain at one point, I can't even begin to understand

So how many games are we thinking?
This is the NHL, so probably 2-3. Wish it was A LOT more.

It SHOULD be a lot more anyways.

Montreal is rebuilding so even if if getting Gallagher out of the lineup would help (it wouldn't), the organization isn't looking at results but at approach and process. Gallagher's job is to be Gallagher and he's doing that. And him being paid to do a lot more doesn't really mean he should be out of the lineup.
I don't even care about his (lack of) production. At all.

He's a bad example for the young ones. Terrible example. Horrible leader. Out of shape. Poor effort.

So much disrespect for a player that gave his all to this team.

Yeah, it was a bad elbow, but he's one of us. Sickening to see the fanbase turn on him.

Love the guy but he's an obstacle and doesn't fit on any line...loyalty shouldn't buy you precious minutes that can go to someone else more useful.

Difference between questioning his current value to the team and throwing him under the bus when the whole league craps on him for a dirty elbow.

You didn't hear NJ fans throwing Scott Stevens under the bus when he was crushing people with open ice hits, or EDM/NYR fans when Mark Messier was elbowing people every couple of games.

His tendency this year to take bad penalties late in close games is concerning. Its cost us a few points this season which isnt a big deal in a rebuilding year but still.

My brain literally melted reading this.

He's not arrogant, he's like the opposite of this, he's given his all no matter what. He cares for the team. And he's been in incredible shape this year. He's caused stuff to happen, he is scoring goals and he has a great cardio.

When you can't follow the game, you start looking for ways to get to the puck.

Why is the coach giving him a regular shift in those situations when his legs are burning 15 seconds into every shift?

You are joking, right? His cardio is just horrible, after 20 seconds of every shift we are basically playing PK as he is totally exhausted. With all respect to him, he definitely needs to go to LTIR next year, if we want to move on. Or at least put him to Pezzetta's spot when he plays 7 minutes per game.

Guy Carboneau called him out on it (on TV, not sure MSL watch those) at the start of the season that you don't play Gallagher at the end of close games, everyone knows he's too tired.

At this point, either Gallagher is blackmailing MSL or MSL believe he's going to lose the room if he doesn't play Gallagher.

one aspect of Gallagher that can never be faulted is his dedication & commitment to off season / off ice training. He’s always done it & is very disciplined doing so.

Gallagher’s issue, which has always been there is his pace level. The NHL has become incredibly faster paced since he entered the league, his desire & determination haven’t changed but he can no longer maintain pace, which is leading to his ramp up in late period / game infractions

That is true, he's given a lot to the team. But everyone's time comes to end. There are players behind him that are better and should be playing ahead of him. That's the reality of professional sports.

Who are these players? I'm not saying Gally is a world beater but I'm not sure anyone we've brought up over the course of the year have done much to sway Marty's decision making.

Well Ylonen for one I think should be given a real chance to play minutes outside of the 4th line. But MSL has no interest in reducing Gallagher's minutes or taking him off the PP.

Rose coloured glasses man.......................people loved the guy back in the day. Now, when making more money and doing less, fans have that right to point out he is garbage....

Just an awful hockey player, and costs his team games now. Whiny bitch to the refs if you wanna talk disrespect to anyone...........guy should have played for the Leafs back when Pat Quinn was their coach.

Done with Gally, put him on LTIR asap..........................as for suspension, he gets 3 games, should be 5 but that's the NHL.

Are you sure, great cardio? The guy can't keep up, and can barely get back to the bench?
He is a hot mess.....
