Since when does the NHL care about that?I think he gets more just because of risk of lawsuit over protecting players head.
This contract was bad on day one, don’t remember anyone beside MB to think it was a good contract even at the time-21, loss of skills, speed. A total NMC which means he can't be waived and buried.
This contract is aging poorly and very quickly.
The only realistic option has to be a buy out at this point.
WTF was Molson and Bergevin thinking?
And to think, they might have gotten a decent return had they traded him insteadThis contract was bad on day one, don’t remember anyone beside MB to think it was a good contract even at the time
Not a cap savvy.....but how much would that mean?Man I hope they are seriously considering buying out this contract.
That doesn't punish him... it punishes usIf the league really wants to punish him they should give him a ten games suspension where we are forced to play him 25 minutes a night

I don't know if Mr. Molson agrees, but honestly I'd pay 2.1M/year into 2030 to get rid of this clown and his clown contract.capfriendly has calculator on each player page. can get a rough idea. It ain't pretty.

With the cap going up a 2.17 million dead cap hit for 3 years is manageable, but I don't see us being in a rush to buy him out given that we won't be competitive anytime soon.
I'm still hoping they convince him to just be on LTIRetirement. It would save his image and not hurt us down the line. Unfortunately, I think he's too stubborn to call it quits.I think it'll depend on the drama factor of turning gally into a pressbox regular. Hughes might not want the bad PR, otherwise I completely agree.
You aren't.I don't recall Gallagher ever being suspended before. Correct me if wrong.
That might have been the difference between a phone hearing and in person because he was probably skirting the boundaries on this one.
LTIRement + scouting job.I'm still hoping they convince him to just be on LTIRetirement. It would save his image and not hurt us down the line. Unfortunately, I think he's too stubborn to call it quits.

He deserves a good beatdownWhen do we next play the Isles maybe Gallagher will have to respond to the unwritten rule like Byron did which may hasten his demise.
I think an Isles player will beat the shit out of him next game anyways. That could be the final nail in the coffin. He's prideful too, though. You can go out as a guy who fought tooth and nail your entire career and then had to bow out like Weber/Price, or you can be pressbox fodder and a distraction to the organization until you're gone.

It's not quite Bure on Churla level, but it's definitely one of the sicker elbows to the head I've seen Dude took 100% of the contact with his damn face.
