Player Discussion Brendan Gallagher suspended 5 games

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Fairly sure they'd hit a wall with the insurance company's doctors. They're not just going to pay because a team feels it'd help.

i often wondered who pays the disability insurance on pro athletes. The team, the player or the NHLPA. I would think the NHLPA has their own disability program for LTD and STD, critical illness etc

Something something the Team pays an insurance company the premium and something something the insurance company pays the player
Or something like that, I can't remember all the details but it was fiscussed heavily in regards to Carey Price

But don't quote me on it..

That's my understanding too, teams pays the premium, since they're the ones who will benefit.

He should have been out of his league 4-5 years ago. It’s insane how such a insignificant player still keeps playing after all these years. He brings nothing to the lineup.
he had like a 10 points stretch in like 10 games and like he got like 5 points in his last 30 games. Back to his normal self. He tries but he simply cant follow anymore

He's a 6,5M 25-30 pts player and has been for years, contract will look bad until the end and never should have happened but it is what it is. Two more years and we can all finally move on.

His little resurgence at the start of the season was fun tho, too bad reality caught up with him.

He needs the February break to recharge his batteries, they are below 20% already.

Gallagher should be the 13th forward next season and the team need another guy who needs game management like him to swap around with him every other games.

It’s so obvious that Gallagher’s endurance isn’t good enough to keep up with the NHL’s schedule and pace. He plays well at the start of a season and after long breaks/injury but 15/20 games in a row is too much for him. They should start managing his games and sit him regularly to allow him to recuperate. We just need better depth than Pezetta to make this happen.

His ice time is actually down a minute in 2nd quarter of the season so it's not even like coaching staff hasn't adjusted his usage. I think we're at a point where he could sit on certain back to backs. The schedule this year has been brutal.

This guy is finished. Too bad he continue to be a warrior. I would like him on the LTIR, but I think it will never happen

I won't grill him too hard because he genuinely looked awesome for a good chunk of the season at the start, but he very clearly doesn't have the conditioning of an NHLer anymore. That kind of playstyle is not durable. LTIRetirement would be the best case scenario but I doubt he'd go for that.
