I understand respect for veterans and it puts MSL in a tough spot, but it's clear to EVERYONE that he is a liability on the ice. Feelings need to be put aside. It's a business first and Gallagher is doing nothing but hurting the team's chances when he is one the ice.

It sucks but it's the reality of the situation.

Even Bergevin was smart enough to know when it’s time to cut bait. He didn’t waste time with Alzner when he realized he screwed up with that contract. He was given a 9 games probation but was quickly sent to Laval.

Gallagher has been given unreasonable amount of chances to stay in the lineup and kept failing. It’s time to move on, he’s not even good enough to play on the 4th line. The clock got to be ticking here, he was dragging Monahan down yesterday.

Keep paying him to sit at home for the remainder of his contract.

The motor and the desire are still there, but good god did he get slower. It's not like he was ever a top notch skater to begin with either, but whatever step he had in his younger days is completely gone. He's pretty much at Corey Perry's level skating wise now, where watching him try to carry the puck in the neutral zone is downright painful.

I'd rather have Danault today than Gallagher,at least he'd be able to be flipped.Terrible extension smfh.

I wonder if they are almost trying to shelter him by anchoring him to Monahan?

Gotta respect the threat Monahan is whereas next to Evans, opposing skaters have little to worry about defensively so can be far more aggressive

MSL should’ve removed the A from him and allowed himself latitude to demote and bench Gallagher as necessary. This would be the first step toward the buy-out or LTIR.

I do not expect to see this issue left unresolved, one way or another.

As for the game to game, I think he can play PK still… so that’s something.

100% agree. It’s bad enough he is unproductive….even worse when he brings down other line mates. We can’t afford to have guys like that. Send him to Laval…he’s getting paid a lot so might as well let him earn it there.

I think 4th line is the only way to go where his ice time is limited and controlled. He can save some face at least and If by some miracle he improves he can move up. Some guys just don't age well and unfortunately it looks like gally is one of those guys. He is apparently a team guy so Hopefully he has a good attitude about it.
