Gallagher has 9 points in 25 games..
Justin Barron has 9 points in 23 games..

I mean THINK about that for a second lol... christ almighty

We're just gonna have to take it on the chin with that one, he's not going anywhere anytime soon sadly
His game is very one-dimensional as well, he got to the NHL playing an energy style and making his living in front of the net without much in the way of skill. He will, unfortunately, continue to sustain injury and that contract, yikes.

He should have been moved like Patch when he still had value. We could have fleeced some team given his reputation at the time. There is no way in hell he gets that type of contract anywhere else.

This is one of Bergevin’s biggest ‘non-moves’ that cements his mediocrity. It’s not talked about much, but I remember many posters here being huge advocates for trying to move Gallagher at peak market value before he cashed in. We ended up holding the bag on this one.

Which begs to ask the question, we know today any of us would’ve accepted a bag of pucks in hindsight for Gallagher.

What would have been a fair return in everyone’s eyes back then?

Lol I remember anybody calling out Gallagher/Wanted him traded got roasted on here for years.

Many people have had problems with gallaghers skills through-out his career.

He's a fine player but he was always frustrating to watch , especially when trying to pass the puck.

Gallagher worked well for MT and Claude Julien teams because passing the puck was basically shunned on and dumping it or shooting for the crest was the right play back in the days.

I love gallagher but anybody could have seen this coming , he was a good player but even if he somewhat returns to form I don't see how he can fit with MSL/Hughes vision going forward.

No, not yet................looks like he is cooked though....................the Bergevin Years just wont go away.
Hes the gift that keeps on giving... I mean look at those f***ing ARMS BRO...

Soon all the stink left by that guy will have worn off and we can finally compare the full Bergevin Tenure with Houle on who was shitter... Muscle man Marc gets my vote already.

As for Gally, many years ago you could tell he was regressing and it was time to trade him, but you know Marc was gonna Marc and here we are with a very injury prone Gally that no one will touch likely.

On top of Gallagher's massive decline, it is even more noticeable under a more offensive coach in MSL where he allows his players to use their skills and skating more.

Even a guy like Belzile fits better on this team as he can actually stick handle and make a tape to tape pass unlike Gally.

Yup… You can’t expand on « wanting it more than everyone on the ice and outworking them ». I’ve always been biased towards skilled players who have another gear in the playoffs.

Gallagher been playing like Gallagher of few years ago. He plays well on line with Ylonen and Evans. With 3 goals and 4 points in last 3 games. He always played better with guys with speed. Like Tatar and Danault. That was good line for many years in Montreal. Hughes must have reunite speed back into his line.

If Gallagher plays like this next season be huge for team. He's been through lot of injuries last 3 seasons. But he is two time 33 goal scorer who reeks character.

His contract sucks, he'll never be worth it. Barring a LTIR move all we can hope for is for him to play relatively productive hockey. I still think he can be a 20-20 guy if healthy, and thought he had a good last two games. We'll see I guess.

Regardless though, the guy has given everything for the sweater the last 10 years and his body is paying the price for that now. I don't think he's deserving of the hate he gets on this forum sometimes.

I don’t think 4 good games in a row during a throwaway season means anything personally
His contract is still gonna be a huge problem for mgmt going forward, it sucks, he gave it his all, but he’s pretty bad

It's not a problem, soon it will be the only bad contract we have, and soon after that he will be on LTIR. Zero issues going forward.

It's an awful contract but fortunately we have a lot of ELCs or steals that have balanced it out. That, and Price being LTIRetired make Gallagher's situation manageable.
17 mil in capspace. Go get awful contracts from other teams and grab their firsts. Accumulate as many firsts to trade for talented young players on slumps. I like the plan. That's an admission that your player development department is atrocious.
