His Dad is his trainer,so not sure he has let up any .
Even a tweener like Ylonen offers more just in terms of speed, puck handling and endurance.

Yeah, I do remember his dad being a trainer but his training today could be different than how much time he put into it in his 20's. In fact, guys in their 30's need to train harder to stay at their levels.

Respect has nothing to do with it,it's sport,it's about winning and entertainment for me. If I don't like the product, then I don't.
Respect, in large part, is, unfortunately, something that will enable a GM to attract and retain the types of players that are the ones that will make the team entertaining to watch.

Your treat them like rabid meat the second you're no longer 100% happy with them is not an appealing attitude to UFAs and looming UFAs (within your system).

Your speculation is insulting, honestly.

Gallagher may no longer be the cat's meow, but he is a gym rat. I wouldn't put his training, or his greater knowledge about training than yours into question.

Mileage on a frame that took lots of abuse...

It doesn't get better from my experience. Best I started feeling was when I was doing hot yoga. It at least limbered me up.
I was in my 3rd class and the lady next to me was doing some position that put pressure on your stomach. LOL well after her big fart she went to the change room and didn't come back. We had only been in class for 15 minutes. No worries to impress me, or be embarassed. But I did get a chuckle from it. Happens in those poses.

It's too bad NHL contracts can't be restructured like they do in the NFL. Bergevin screwed Gallagher with that contract - he'll never be able to live up to it and everyone knows it. He has all this pressure on him to show he is deserves it and he can't sustain it. Fans are on him for it snd it handcuffs his team because he is locking up money that should be going to a skilled teammate.

He was good this year but poor guy is broken up
What!? Gallagher was good this year?! Like... 2022-23?? Because. No. No no no. He was FAR from good.

Bergevin gave Gallagher $39M and cried all the way through. He certainly did not 'screw' Gallagher. I'm sure Gally doesn't care that fans on call in shows or on the internet think his contact is an albatross and if he did he can go roll in a pile of money to help him forget.

Gallagher got to where he is because he was always self driven, always working harder than everybody else. He isn't struggling because of pressure, he's struggling because his play style is not conducive to longevity and his body cannot recover from a lot of really, really hard miles.

i've read that he was a gym rat too. My perception of his condition is that he doesn't seem to do enough cardio but muscular building . For years he always seems completely breathless when he returns to the bench.

To explain his bad production, i also believe that he doesn't know how to play his game anymore because he knows that he's marked by the referees ; the number of goals refused, the number of penalties he gets versus all the ones that aren't called when other players shit on him...

It was already hard for him to play his kind of game, without having to deal with the referees ; now he seems to be disabused over this situation. He can't play anymore near the goalies, so he tries to make plays instead of trying to score his garbage goals

Maybe we should create a Gallagher wheel of excuses. I swear I’ve read all the excuses in the world as to why he sucks.

What’s next? He’s not getting enough PP mins?

Just waiting for someone to say he’s not getting enough PP mins.
Doesn't he have like zero career power play points?

Gallagher's contract has been a misrepresentation of his play for many years now. His previous contract was actually a pretty nice bargain for the team. The tables have completely turned the other way now.

The year he signed THAT contract was the year he fell off as soon as it was inked. We saw his play decline for most of the season. Brendan Gallagher signed a 6 year, $39,000,000 contract with the Montreal Canadiens on Oct. 14, 2020.
He should have been moved like Patch when he still had value. We could have fleeced some team given his reputation at the time. There is no way in hell he gets that type of contract anywhere else.

He would’ve been worth a lot as a trade asset with his low cap hit of 3.75m and his (then intact) reputation as a good two way player. The cap was flat too, it would’ve been a huge value trade to any buyer.

It’s a big regret.

The biggest.

Selling Gallagher for a first round pick, and Tatar for another first rounder, then keeping Danault and not having to acquire Dvorak would have meant an additional 3 first round picks, plus a 2nd, plus save $1,000,000 on the cap plus have a much better middle-six center.

Ironically, losing Gallagher and Tatar would have cost NOTHING in our 2021 Cup run as they were passengers.

Kind of feel like in the movie groundhog day.lol.

Will try to make it clear by making example.

Saw and episode of the original Star Trek, good show=good entertainment=good product.

The Kids were watching something like Surviving on bachelor island in love or some shit like that, bad show=bad entertainment = bad product

Really don't see how respect enters the equation of product.

Is it respectful how they treated Quick just recently? or those players that scratch and claw and fight to get the team they are on in to the playoffs and come TDL they are dispatched to a non contending team or sent to the minors when the get moved for someone more useful for their purpose?

Gallagher has 9 points in 25 games..
Justin Barron has 9 points in 23 games..

I mean THINK about that for a second lol... christ almighty

We're just gonna have to take it on the chin with that one, he's not going anywhere anytime soon sadly
