Will he play again in Montreal? does he deserve to play ahead of,anyone I suppose. Small sample size but would Prefer RHP,,Pezz and Belzile over him if they can keep the same intensity.

I’d rather he be sent down and have a league-min player in his place

But that is impossible

Because…

His poison pill to buy-out contract also has a NMC, which prevents us from sending him down

Thank Marc Bergevin and John Sedgwick for that

The good news is he will likely travel to Robidas Island at some point after next season.

The other good news might be that the Habs don’t dress him and make things hard for him until he accepts to be loaned or sent elsewhere. This is something that happens often in Euro football leagues where they have guaranteed contracts and can find themselves committed to a player they don’t want anywhere close to the team.

If the Habs really want to get rid of Gallagher they will find a way.

Unf***ing believable! Can't even bury him in the minors,I got friends with shovels though.lol

You have no choice but to play him with that contract. This is another Price type of contract where I doubt Brendan plays this entire contract length.
Make him a healthy scratch,maybe he'll quit.

You don't disrespect a player who has sacrificed for this organization.
While I believe he is truly past his prime best years I do appreciate the Warrior mentality he has displayed from day 1.

Respect has nothing to do with it,it's sport,it's about winning and entertainment for me. If I don't like the product, then I don't.
I don't like the production but you can't disrespect veterans without losing important pieces. Gallagher imo is no longer an NHL player and any competent GM would have seen the future of whether this player had anything in the tank to play another 6 good seasons.
All I am saying is it has to be handled properly by the GM. They won't disrespect Gallagher...

He's become so useless, I'm all for scratching him unless the team is so depleted by injuries that you need him to fill out a 4th line winger position. To hell with niceties....he's dead weight.

Yeah, but why not just play him on the 4th line or 13th frwd. Judt bc he has a terrible contract doesnt mean he deserves to get more minutes... hes the last stink from the bergy era..
I assume with his pride he will get hurt again soon enough, and this time it will be LTIR until he retires..
No skin off our back really, it's Molson who has to pay him.

I think HuGo have managed some difficult contracts like Price, Weber, and Petry very well to date. Let's have faith that they will professionally manage Gallagher's contract and what's best for the organization going forward.

Product, not production! As a FAN all I care about is the finished product on the ice for entertainment.you and everyone else completely misunderstood.
The product is the yield of individual components,if you're assembling a product, you pick the best components for the product, you don't pick a defective component out of pity do you?no,you pick the best.

I expect him to be bought out in 2 seasons, if he hasn't LTIRetired.

The guy looks gassed after 25 seconds on the ice and just can't keep up.
my belief is that Gallagher just trained in a wrong way, as Subban did . They both trained to be stronger , and the result is that - as you just said -they're gassed after only 25 seconds . They can't keep the pace of the game because they are too heavy .

Another thing is the fact that Gallagher can't play his game anymore because he's been marked by the referees ; We all know the double standards of them when it comes to Gally. /All the penalties he's getting for little things versus the ones not called when they are made on him ...

Gally was never a skill player. He lost his wheels he lost his jam. Pretty smart player, good and honest defensively, but never particularly skilled. He made the NHL on effort and effort alone and once he lost his ability to exert that effort... he became predictably useless. A shocker of a contract.

Anyone with an equally bad contract in Vancouver?
Id do Gallagher a solid and trade him there.

If we are moving Gallagher for a equally bad contract, I don't see the point. Gallagher is not a problem in the room and the new guy could be.

Lets just be happy that his contract is not in place at a critical time where we need cap space. 4 more years left and maybe the last year or 2 is a problem. At some point, Gallagher has to get tired of his own performance and train harder in the off season. I wonder sometimes if he is training as hard as he was in his 20's? Sometimes, players get tired of the commitment and spend more time with family.

His shoot from anywhere value has faded. He's not winning much puck battles. The level he had to play at in his career was a very high level. Sad to see him fade like this after the contract but nice to see him cash in cause he was underpaid in his 20's. Do us a favor and collect that money on LTIR for the last 2 years of that deal please

Agreed. His value was shoot from anywhere and played with lots of energy and work ethic. I actually don't think he is training as hard anymore. 30+ problem and Gomez declined fast like that too. Different players but commitment to training faded.

Gallagher foot speed just sucks. He's getting smothered with the puck and he's now making bad decisions with the puck like Drouin did cause he knows his time/space is limited.

His Dad is his trainer,so not sure he has let up any .
Even a tweener like Ylonen offers more just in terms of speed, puck handling and endurance.

Honestly have Not missed Galleger in any way shape or form since his injury.Definely do not miss his childish antics after the whistle or his smashing $300 sticks because his F'd up .My $69 Canadian Tire stick has lasted me 2 seasons of pick up hockey and I treat it accordingly.
