Can somebody please tell Nash what good means? What's really frightening is Nash is serious.

This comment to me is worse than Drury saying that a loss before the Christmas break wouldn't ruin his Christmas. If Nash thinks 1 goal in 12 games in the playoffs is good what the hell is bad? What's 2 goals to Nash? A fantastic playoff run.

I like Nash but this is complete garbage....

Agreed. Add this one for the record books. Unbelievable.

Which is why I never got all of the crying over poor Hank and all. Such a ridiculous reaction for a player that is just like anyone else. I could see if the dude was making 4M a year on purpose to spread some of the cash around on other players. But he's getting paid what he deserves and not a penny less. And he will be asking for what he deserves and not a penny less, again. Nothing wrong with that. But the poor Hank crap is obnoxious.

I'm as big of a Hank homer there is but Ive never understood the "poor Hank" crowd either. Not everyone can play for the Penguins. Lots of great players had to retire without a cup.

i hope they trade him.. he has been horrible.. no intensity from him at all.. some great player he is... the best players bring it up during the playoffs. he didnt. heck Brassard first playoff turned out to be a great one.. Nash seems lazy to me at times. i wish the NYR traded for Bobby Ryan instead at least he has a contract that is cheaper.

Nash is very clearly superior to Ryan and the Rangers won't move Nash now that they anointed him as their franchise forward. The Rangers offense will live and die with the play of Rick Nash, which doesn't aspire much confidence to me as a fan of the Rangers.

I like Boyle. I don't think he is a 3rd line centre, but he is a great 4th line centre.
He is the type of guy you should give 4th line ES mins + a ton of PK time, and even occasionally use him as a screen on the PP.
You can then deploy him in the playoffs in more of a 3rd line roll, because he is the type of player that excels in the playoffs.

Reading all this **** you people are absolutely insane. This is why I rarely post. It's too much of a joke around here

Read the Daily News today, He isn't coming back. He is done.

Damn, what a shame. I was so high on him too.

Someday, posters here will be smart enough to reference who they are talking about when responding to quotes so you don't have to go searching.

(Talking about Michael Sauer 5 pages before the response.)

Boyle is like a 4th line center in the regular season but a 3rd line center in the playoffs. Go figure--but he earns his ice then.

There were a lot of desperate Rangers fans back in 1994--a whole slew of them sold their souls then. I didn't think it was a secret.

As for Richards--his needing to be amnestied is not just about how his play has fallen off--it's just as much about his contract being a potential train wreck for us in the future. Torts thinking he'll turn his game around for next year is a little wishful IMO--but even if he were to do so his contract will still be a train wreck waiting to happen. And if he doesn't rebound and the team suffers for it--Torts is more likely to walk the plank with his buddy by the end of next year.

The right thing is for the Rangers to free up the cap space and go in another direction. Stepan at this point is clearly their best all around center. Brassard is not far behind.

After game 4, I rode the train home back to Long Island. My friends and I sat with a statistician who woks for the NHL. He was monitoring ice time for the Bruins in game 4. Anyway he was saying the Hank played through injury the whole playoffs. I think he was hurt in a game VS Mtl, took a shot in the shoulder. He said the injury was pretty significant and he played through it the whole time.

He also said Girardi was really banged up. A problem with his hand or his wrist. Was also significant.

Lastly he touched on Torts and Richards. Said they are really close friends and the decision to sit him weighed heavy on the both of them. Richards he said was a true professional about it.

He 100% should be back but the Rangers AND Zuccerello have the same option next season as this past season. If the negotiations come down to money and the Rangers don't want to pay the same amount as Metallurg Magnitogorsk they can still bring Zuccerello back.

I think Zuccerello will make more money going back to Russia and coming back at the end of next season to the Rangers. This is his career, his window to make the most money he can possibly make. I wouldn't be surprised if both the Rangers and Zucc go that route instead of resigning him this offseason.

He's stated a few times that money is not a "real" factor, he wants to be a NHL player first and foremost. I'd be very surprised if the Rangers don't sign the guy, considering that he (based on his progress in the KHL) may very well be on the verge of a full blowout season. Expecting Zucc to be resigned.

I am very concerned about Hank though.. but hope he cools off and sees that the team can be a contender with all the bits operating at capacity (which they didn't this time around)

Hank is dealing with the sting of being eliminated. Clearly this was a disappointing season. Give him some time and he'll be ok.

Exactly. Too many people here have short memories. Lundqvist is extremely competitive, he wants to win every game. He knows this trait about himself and has said several times at the end of the season that he's crushed when the team doesn't win it all and needs a couple of weeks to regain his perspective. Why should this year be any different? Lundqvist just needs some time to step back and see the whole picture.

Nash, on the other hand, should be more honest. He has to commit to going all out in the playoffs. He certainly didn't this year and it shows. Next year better be different.

Henrik hasn't faced Montreal since early February.

Agreed. A desperate team would give him a contract with a value of 8.5-9. Perhaps 12m in year one or something like that where it decreases a bit after (ala a signing bonus).

I have a feeling Hank is going to want 8M a year. 200K above Nash's cap hit. I am all for signing him at 7M per. 8 is steep, but you have to do it. Above 8? Then I start thinking about trading him.

like that team moving to Brooklyn?

Wait until Larry Brooks stirs the pot with the Lundqvist stuff. Brooks will write about it for tomorrow's Post. The Rangers really didn't need this. The Rangers spend to the upper limit every year. I read the Rangers have to show a willingness to build a team around Lundqvist. Henrik should have a talk with his agency Newport Sports as to why their other client Brad Richards sucked rhinoceros **** this season. The Rangers plucked down $60M on that guy. He sucked. If Henrik thinks the grass is greener somewhere else,be careful.

Yeah, I'm sure newport has an answer as to why richards sucked...

If Henrik really thinks the grass is greener elsewhere, well, it will be shame to lose such a brillant player, but the team will play on

I wanted to break something when Nash said he had a "good" playoffs. **** that guy, he's officially on my **** list now

Worst possible news on Staal. We're going to have to wait on his health until training camp to see if Del Zotto is expendable for offensive help. Jesus we're cursed

I'd like to hear Nash say he had a "good" playoffs if he repeats his 1 goal in 12 games performance next year.

Years of no expectations in Columbus have clouded his thinking. You'd think a half season with Tortorella would have taught him that expectations are different here in NY. Can't wait for Nash to go through a full Tortorella training camp.

People, are over reacting to a quote from a locker room on breakup day. Relax, good God.

It's honestly hilarious to see all of the knee jerk reactions in this thread. Lets trade Nash! He is a loser!

Can't wait for you all to bounce back next year to loving him.

It's refreshing to see Boyle hold himself accountable for his poor play this season. I'm glad he mentioned he made a mistake by not playing during the lockout - he and a few other players looked unprepared for the season.

Richards is another player who should have played during the lockout. He said he felt in shape in September but the season started in January, he really should have kept up his conditioning. Too late for him now and he will probably be bought out.

Nash could take a few pointers from Boyle in taking personal responsibility. I'm not sure if Nash lacks self-awareness, is deflecting blame, or has a different set of expectations due to his dearth of postseason experience, but his performance during the playoffs was not good and he will need to be a lot better in order for the Rangers to win the cup.

+1.

We didn't see Rick Nash in the playoffs.

While no operation is needed, I firmly believe that he was injured throughout the last month of the season and the playoffs.

If he performs at this years level, next season, then I have to alter my view of what he brings.
