Hank would get 12m on the open market. Only Sid and Malkin would get more.

I don't believe that for one minute, I'm afraid. A team might give him 8 million per. That would be it.

All heart from Boyle. He is accountable for a his poor play.

i don't like him (mainly because of how he was utilized by tortorella), but i'm certainly glad he realizes that he sucked... now if he could just teach nash modesty we'd be getting somewhere...i understand not wanting to answer a stupid question, but to think he played well? no way

I don't see any reason to dislike Boyle, dislike the way the coach used him sure. He is what he is and he plays hard most of the time, I would really rather see him on the wing though. Plus he's a good team guy and owns up for not having the best year.

Exactly. Hank's hometown discount is, "I'll stay in New York if you pay me."

Which is why I never got all of the crying over poor Hank and all. Such a ridiculous reaction for a player that is just like anyone else. I could see if the dude was making 4M a year on purpose to spread some of the cash around on other players. But he's getting paid what he deserves and not a penny less. And he will be asking for what he deserves and not a penny less, again. Nothing wrong with that. But the poor Hank crap is obnoxious.

I could see ~8.5-9.0. 12 is silly.

Agreed. A desperate team would give him a contract with a value of 8.5-9. Perhaps 12m in year one or something like that where it decreases a bit after (ala a signing bonus).

I have a feeling Hank is going to want 8M a year. 200K above Nash's cap hit. I am all for signing him at 7M per. 8 is steep, but you have to do it. Above 8? Then I start thinking about trading him.

Advanced stats only, and only when they fit his argument!

Sadly the majority of the time they prove to be nothing but a barometer to measure individual players without taking into consideration that hockey is a team game played on ice not paper.

If the wrist and back issues are true it would explain his low shooting % and the stiffness in his skating, looked lazy but I don't think he is. Not an excuse but it is what it is.

Agreed. The back issues make sense if true since he was skating like he was stuck in mud at times compared to how he was during the regular season.

A bit of an exaggeration, yes.

If you told people the night it happened that Staal would miss the rest of the season and never fully recover, people would have gone absolutely nuts.

Horrible outcome nonetheless.

I agree it's horrible. Staal doesn't get injured and there's a good chance we're playing tonight. Let's see how a couple months off helps him. I'm still optimistic the old Marc Staal will return.

I'm gone for 4 days and I come back to demands for Nash to be traded.

I missed this place. :D

Imagine how dominant Staal is if he consistently played the last two years.

Sample size is of course tiny. Also his shooting percentage was 2.4%. But of course those analytical principles are ignored by Kershaw when it comes to Nash...

Yeah, that's still inexcusable for his 1g, 5 pts in 12 GP. He was 3rd amongst Rangers FWDs in On Ice Sh% in the playoffs, yet himself only finished with 1 goal. Not to mention his mediocre Corsi rating.

So a typical break up day after a ****** exit. All we as fans can do is discuss logically. But that isn't ever the case. Hope staal returns at least somewhat ready. I also hope clowe takes a discount and less years. He was a help. Also, let the new guys come up.

Regarding Hank, I think he'll stay but he is upset right now. As the whole team should be.

Richards kept talking about himself. He will be playing hockey somewhere next season.

Let’s start here because this was the big topic, obviously. Brad Richards knows he’s being bought out. He’s a smart guy and a pro. John Tortorella talked about Richards, but wouldn’t answer a question about whether his long-time friend would be back.

Richards sounded like ****.

Brooks asked Lundqvist about the contract. He was laughing when he made I will talk to my agent comment and we'll take it from there.

Im not really concerned about Henke's contract. Hes already making over 6m in terms of cap hit so we dont have to budget for something drastically different. Henke will get a long term deal and be a ranger for 15+ years.

I hope he is a lifer for us. 8 years is max under new CBA. But still. Hope he gets a contract similar to this one. And stays.
