About the tournament being restarted entirely? News came out today. I just remember when it was cancelled that the IIHF president said that all the point totals would stay on official record and wouldn't be cleared. I am sure the new tournament will still start with everyone at zeros though.

Its a new tournament, the last attempt was cancelled. This is a new tournament starting from scratch where they will attempt to hand out the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship Trophy. All the individual accomplishments from the previous tournament will still stand as stats achieved in the cancelled tournament.

August is a good time for hockey. Kids are going to be a little bit rusty, but it's ok as long as everybody is in the same situation.

I got a bad feeling about this tournament working out well. Canada will probably send their best team because it's in Canada, but other teams I'm not so sure how willing their club teams are about letting them go and hamper the summer training if those teams are something like Finnish men's league teams/SM-Liiga/Liiga teams. I wish that Canadians had done the Covid isolation properly so this wouldn't have happened.

If the NHL can get away with sabotaging any international sporting event, they will definitely do so – again and again. Will be tough to invent another excuse, given that the virus isn't usually rampant in August...

Maybe Austria. It’s funny, China actually did better at the Olympics than Austria did in WJC with supposed star in Kasper. But at least there will be relegation.

Well at least, unlike the Olympics, the organizers won't go out of their way to overlook the incredible amount of cheating that one nation has CONTINUALLY done for decades with little to no real pushback.

Covid was a fluid situation at the time and the provincial government in Alberta did worse than other provinces in handling the situation and it is what it is.
