Carlo will be fine ~ he made a few nice plays only guys that length and skating could seal of Byfield or Lee

It would not be surprised if he’s a +30

Team Carlo

Earth to Monty:

1. Leave Carlo with Lindholm together
2. Leave Poitras in middle - only on wall on PP which is where he wasn’t yesterday

A lot of players aren’t in game shape. The preseason was a mixture of players trying to make the team. I think they just need to settle down and learn the system. What ever that is. Leach needs to straighten them out.

So I'll be honest, I haven't watched every game this year...but for a team that's always on the PK, is there a reason why he isn't playing top minutes anymore?

I love the guy, but if we want to address our top 6, I always feel like this guy gets us that.

Should I be worrying or is this just a slow start like everyone else?

How long should we continue
to make excuses for this guy?

Earth to Sweeney: trade him while he still has value.

He hasn’t started out very well and last year was a down year for him, but I think he’ll turn his game around as the team picks up its play. He’s a valuable player on this team on a fine contract and still in his prime years, I don’t agree with his detractors.

I agree with most of this. He's definitely struggled so far this season, but I thought he was rock solid last year and is a core guy on our back 6.

If you wanna make a hockey trade and ship him off for some goalscoring help, fine. I'm all ears. Make a proposal that is realistic and will make this team better.

However the "trade him, he's soft and he sucks" takes are just lazy....

Last year Carlo was a team-leading +23, solid as a rock and the team's best defender. If that's a 'down' year I'd like to order a few more of those. But otherwise I agree with you, he's an important piece on this team.

Can't sugarcoat it though, he hasn't been good enough so far this season and some of the lapses would be inexcusable from a rookie. But I think he'll be fine. There's been some gradual improvement and he well and truly knows what it takes to succeed at this level. Needs to keep knuckling down and find his best form again, and if he can do that the Bruins will be much better for it.

He was their best D in the Florida 4-3 loss but that was only game I watched him like he was my kid playing

I’m going tonight I will focus only on him besides the game so I’ll look for any good or bad

Carlo has reverted back to not meeting expectation of a veteran defenseman. Post concussion excuses do not apply right now. I don't know if he has confidence issues, but his positional play is not as good as last year, when I gave him a ton of credit for upping his game.
We still see it in spurts. But I'm still seeing the dumb positional errors that cost goals.
They do have a new-ish D coach in Leach, but I thought he was supposed to be an improvement based of his rep' @ PRO. Maybe there are some adjustments that they are struggling with, as Mc isn't looking consistent either.

I don’t think Carlo can get you a legit 2nd line winger. What they really need is for Lysell to figure it out and step up to the challenge when he gets called up.
I'm not proposing trading Carlo because I think we need him.

However, I think it's a sign of how much we sometimes under and over rate players on our own roster. In my book, Carlo returns a legit 2nd line winger every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

IMO Carlo would have significantly more value around league than many here presume.

So we can play Andrew Peeke in the top 4 and PK1? And who…Wotherspoon silly side 3RD ? Alec Regula?

This is so silly.
Maybe trade him for another RHD? Not saying I would trade him, but there could be a match somewhere I guess

What they need to do is include Lysell in the trade for a number two winger or center. Carlo is the centerpiece but you build around it with Lysell and a pick and get a good second line player.

good point + 23 last year and accomplished while killing the bulk of the penalties this team received, makes his plus minus more impressive. I have always been a Carlo guy, but my thinking he is the one that is going to be moved to upgrade scoring on this team, that is not a move I would like to see, but realize it is a possibility.

PP goals against do not count as a minus, so +/- says nothing about penalty kill performance.

Good luck with that. Carlo is the 85th highest paid defenseman in the league. Add in all the ELC/bridge defenseman and he’s on a very very good deal.
