Shit, even if we were in a rebuild or not in our supposed contending window, none of these picks would blow my mind. You'd expect a top-3 pick at the very least and at least one star player.

This is literally nothing for the value Brady had.

I'm losing my f***ing mind.

This is an insane return when you consider he has a NMC, and gave them four teams.

I don't know if I got all the picks right, but this is pretty much like getting the 2nd overall pick.

Let's say Brady remains a top-tier power forward until he is 35, is this a good return? Not really. But you have to take into context that if this happened now, he probably is either not re-signing, or we cannot afford him.

The market is shifting. Brady is going to be expensive.

This was 100 percent the right move. Everybody knows it.
Now, would you trade those 3 firsts this year to San Jose to get Stenberg? This does not feel like a good draft for forwards so might need to be bold

At least 3 of the 4 picks are bottom 3rd of the 1st or the 2nd... It won't force me to gag with another of their top 10 selections

If Viggo Bjork isn't available at 9th overall(yes I know I'm delusional for thinking Boyd would draft a 5'9 player), just trade the pick for a player.

SERIOUSLY GUYS, WHAT THE f*** IS THIS?

ARE WE IN A REBUILD?

DID BRADY DEMAND AN IMMEDIATE TRADE TO FLORIDA?

Omg, like not even an elite player in return, just picks?

WHAT THE f***!

Friedman hinted last year that making the playoffs helped resolve things, and if the Sens missed again there would have possibly been issues with Brady. His NMC was coming up. It was super obvious that would be a choke point.

I suspect that he probably was not going to stay here, we probably weren't going to pay him market value, and the stars aligned with Florida missing the playoffs and having insane draft capital.

It's interesting that we didn't want Samoskevich. It's almost like the Duchene trade even if it wasn't a three way deal, where Florida moved a piece to make room.

Insane post.

Trading him might have been the "right" move for the right return, but we're not in a rebuild, and already have multiple holes on F. How the f*** is this good for us unless we blow the whole thing up??

I made my peace with this months ago, so I’m excited to get three firsts in return and turn the page. The extra first this year was more than I expected so I’ll take it.

It sucks but if we make good use of those picks we’ll be fine in the end. We’re not getting through Florida in the next few years anyway, so aiming to peak in a couple years is the move.

Sorry to hear things have been difficult. Hope the tide starts to shift.

I should re-frame it that it is a positive, that reaching a low point with the difficulties were important to helping me address them and work to resolve them.

I am doing extremely well compared to last year!

Sometimes, I look at dark things in my life and use humour that makes them sound far too casual. So I wasn't really fishing, but I always appreciate the kind words. Thanks.

He had become a distraction. Not good in the room. Everyone saw the writing on the wall, including his teammates.

What can we do with these picks? Who the hell knows. We may suck now.

But Brady wasn't coming back. He forced his way out by checking out mentally and emotionally. Everyone saw how he played.

I feel like there's some misplaced anger towards the team here that should be directed at Brady. He wasn't staying even though Staios actually assembled a good team around him. At that point I don't think its viable to try to win for the next two years with the circus hanging over everyone's head. And we saw what a checked out Brady looked like in the playoffs this year: a pathetic embarrassment.
