I’d be shocked. The Sens don’t tend to take players like the Rucks. Suddenly they’re taking two of them? Doubt it.

if we want high end talent and we want to use our 9th OA to get some roster players we would be smart to try and get the Rucks.

They have solid potential and they’re exactly the type of picks we should aim for.

Think you guys did pretty good on the return considering Brady held most of the cards. I'll be surprised if we get anything for Matthews when he bails in 2 years. I'm hoping this move helps nudge him into asking for a trade but I'm not holding my breath because you know ...Leafy things.

I can’t say I’ve done much research on them, what do you mean by not taking players like them? I did read a rumour they prefer to go to the same team. Sens are the only team that have 2 late 1sts where they are projected to go, but of course trades could still happen in the next few days.

The Ruck twins are sub 6 foot, cerebral, skill types.

In the last 9 drafts - in 60 total picks - the Senators have drafted 3 players that measured under 6 feet tall. They avoid this type of player completely, preferring to draft tall, athletic, toolsy types that they hope to be able to mould into productive hockey players.

It would be a big move against type for the Sens to draft these guys.

I think it’s clear as day the plan should be make our 3 first picks this coming draft, then go ahead and give Robertson the offer sheet bag and give up the four firsts.

We’d also have money left over to complement our roster further.

That's a fair thing to say. No hard feelings here
No hard feelings here either, and thank you for letting me off the hook.

I’m going to eat my fair share of humble pie. I’d make some comment about not getting my hopes up next time….. but I will, that’s how I fan unfortunately, so probably see you next time! ;)

Lots of you were right, had the proper read, and the situation was exactly what it was.

I was wrong, and it sucks, and now the crow….

Chiming in with my thoughts on the trade. I've been wanting Brady gone since the end of the Olympic break, just did not think his play on the ice was good enough to offset his off ice bs/distractions.

I'm not sure about the return, I would have liked a roster player back. As of right now, all of it hinges on how Staios uses the assets that we got in return.

Considering the circumstances that we were in, the return is not bad though. For a team like the Sens where we have a difficult time attracting players in free agency or getting players to waive their NTCs for us, draft picks are worth their weight in gold.

The players in the lockerroom arent sticking around for another 1st round sweep either
Well that's because they're soft and spoiled. Listen if they want to take their ball and go home then so be it, maybe next time Sens will draft good Canadian kids instead of spoiled Americans.

Annnnnnd that’s why I have no desire to see a rebuild with this regime and scouting staff. It’s going to be failed pick after failed pick.

If it’s mediocrity or never-ending rebuilding, just give me mediocrity. The philosophy in this upcoming draft isn’t going to be any different than it has been for the last 5 years. The exact same people are in place.

Nothing to do with being soft

No one wants to stay on a team that has no intention of contending

Would you stay on a team that isn’t serious about winning ?
