What a start to the summer.

I always felt Brady got the C way too early and never got the chance to mature as a leader. Even this year it always felt like he was saying what he imagines a captain should say rather than being the captain of the hockey team.

It was quit evident on his podcast that he reverts to the kid brother when on with his brother and dad. It definitely felt kind of off-putting seeing a grown man act like when he was the captain of a hockey club but it is what it is.

Short term definitely a loss, but I think Steve made the best out of one of the hardest situations you could be in as a GM.

I trust him to make the right decisions with the picks and I don't see us regressing too badly in the long term.

Emotions aside I give him credit for keeping it quiet and letting Steve do the work. It could've been a lot worse.

So Florida gets the Tkachuk brothers, can we be creative and get the Robertson brothers? XD
(Hey, Jason, if you come here, we will try to grab Nick as well)

we can't regress at all

not in our division. Sens have to make the playoffs. The players in the lockerroom arent sticking around for another 1st round sweep either

This is where we find out what Staois is made of

Frankly if anyone doesn't want to stick around for another first round sweep they can also leave.

You just traded a power forward many around the league consider a unicorn with gigantic value for one decent pick at #9, a late first round pick and a 2029 top-10 protected 1st and you think this is tons better than what Dorion would have gotten?

Doubtful.

Lets be real here. Dorion would have held onto Brady until trade deadline 2028 hoping he'd change his mind and then end up trading him to Florida for a washed prospect and a fourth liner.

I think at a certain point people need to get over dorion and actually evaluate Staois. Just cause Dorion wasn't great doesnt mean we have to be okay with Staois being marginally better if that

We've seen these situations drag on closer to UFA and then turn out way worse than this. I think you guys did pretty well here under the circumstances honestly. Seems likely there's a reflex move for your top 6
Yes, there will be. Selling off Batherson, that's what the next move will likely be. Chabot not long after.

It was never just about Brady, he's just the first domino. Anyone who thought about this before hand for more than 5min can see what the next likely developments will be. This is not stopping with Brady, it's far more likely to spiral out of control than not. Pinto is going to be a question mark too in a couple years when his limited NTC kicks in, his contract length during negotiations was influenced by Brady's remaining term. He's also likely gone in a year or two.

Seven excruciatingly painful years of scorched earth rebuild, after a decade of Melnyk f***ery, only to end up with this shit, and very likely by design from the decisions made by the new regime on how to run things, which is smelling more and more like the last one. Starting to feel like we're heading right back to the 2010s Melnyk era playbook of deliberate mediocrity and never ending middling misery. The worst place to be for a fan.

We've been so fortunate to have such great people in charge for our entire existence.

I’m bummed, and that was victory lap for you that lacked grace.

I’ll manage, and yes you and other were right, but that doesn’t mean I have to like getting the mud kicked in my face to boot.
That's a fair thing to say. No hard feelings here

Three 1sts for a 70-80 point forward is very reasonable.

Would love to know what Minny offered. In the end I guess it doesn’t matter as despite Brady saying he’d go to 4 teams I really think he basically told Staois only Florida or bust

Probably built around roster players vs. futures. If we go off the names the Wild have made available in the past, it's probably something like:

9OA = Wallstedt
25OA = Yurov
1st + 2nd = Pick + Prospect

Hard to say if Florida being the preferred destination screwed them until we see what they do with the picks. Though if I were them I think I would prefer getting roster players vs. 2x picks with a 6-day shelf life. Clock is now ticking for them to turn those picks into players. Not an ideal place to be, but let's see if they can make it work.

Don’t think Batherson is going anywhere.

And quite honestly the Sens have 2-3 years to figure out the Pinto situation ie build a contender to ensure he stays. They have a ton of assets now and Staios can build the team as he envisions it, so we’ll see what he can do.

Yeah go ahead and dream about what we'll do with these picks because it'll be a lot better than what we'll get in the real world.

Crazy how people think a #9 and #25 pick in a weak draft will get us the big fish.
Or we keep this cancerous , checked out captain who hates our country.

Tim and Brady drifted so far apart that even Brent Wallace is starting to chirp that from camp the vibes were bad in the room

thats not how this works. Pinto can ask for a trade next season if he wanted. Having a contract in place doesn't mean a whole lot these days.

Ottawa has to take a step forward here or Brady won't be the last guy to ask for a deal out
