Proposal: Brady Tkachuk to New York Rangers

Great, so we get a guy who has a track record of not wanting to play in Canada to the point of delaying the acquisition of millions of dollars.

1. Fox refused to play for Calgary, why would he come to Ottawa?

It’s a good deal for the Rangers, and I have every confidence Tkachuk will finish this deal in Ottawa.
Pinto as a 200ft 55-65pt right shot centre has more value than a 60-70pt winger.

Lafreniere is comparable to Batherson, or rather I think he can be a Batherson level player.
I think Pinto can carry that value, though admittedly he’s off to a weird bad start this year.

Bath is not chopped liver but LaF w/his potential is currently appreciably more than Bath

Can’t really see the Rangers being interested in this. Aside from becoming even more top-heavy, giving up two wingers, one of whom is finally looking like he will live up to his 1st overall pick level, they aren’t likely to want to tie up another $9M long term in one player on the left wing when they have Panarin and Kreider already there.

It would be a great deal for the NYR as Brady would be the elite scoring grit guy and better than Laf and they also have Othmann and Perreault ready to join their group of forwards as soon as playoff time.

Why do you need a discussion? Rags aren’t moving Fox, especially for that package, they want to build around him. He’s the least likely of everyone you mentioned to be moved. You just tossed a bunch of big names into a trade idea, I guess after checking puckpedia first?

youth is cheaper
so it = more depth = better team
exceptional scenarios notwithstanding

Whether or not the Rs -- and btw, it is nyr, Rs or Rangers, not "Rags" -- listen to me and do what they should actually do, or continue to do whatev including a track record of mistakes they are shown in hindsight to regret later, remains to be seen.

We are now seeing I have been correct these past few yrs on moving certain people ahead of, not behind the curve.

I will continue to post as I see fit. Everybody has a right to hold everybody else accountable for what they said.

In totality of circumstances, my post 2025 in that thread is win win across the board

I get reluctance to part w/Sanderson, but that is a cut yr nose to spite yr face if the rest of the deal makes it a net positive.

Sure, but the likelihood for either is vanishingly low so it’s mostly irrelevant other than on this board - and if Ottawa was looking to add Lafreniere it certainly wouldnt be at the cost of Brady.

i think if in 5 years Laf has not had any opportunity to play in the playoffs, you'll probably start hearing rumors that he wants out.

I suspect he’s already a little miffed with the treatment he’s gotten from the Rangers staff.

They’ve already cost him millions if his deployment is the reason why his point totals aren’t where they could be.

Might be smart for them to consider moving him before he publicly demands a trade and his value tanks.

Plenty of teams have a Gabe Perreault level prospect they could move. They're not trading Lafreniere for Tkachuk. The idea is to build around Lafreniere, Fox, and, for better or worse, Igor and his ridiculous contract.

There are not five teams in hockey with a Perreault level prospect.
