The situation with Brady is more when you lose, you can do no right, when you win, you can do no wrong.

I didn't like him roasting the fans for adversity. I thought it was incredibly ungrateful and tone deaf given how supportive fans have been despite having to deal with everything that came with Melnyk running the team over the last decade or so. Especially since Bryan Murray passed.

With that said, one bad comment doesn't define someone. This is an incredibly disappointing season, so people are looking for places to put blame. If Brady wasn't up to his "embarrassing antics", and instead was calm and collected, people would say he checked out and it's a country club atmosphere.

We are probably a year away from Brady getting the Mark Stone treatment of going somewhere else and redefining his career to the point where if 20 years from now you ask someone to close their eyes and visualize Mark Stone, they aren't visualizing him in a Sens jersey.

They need to figure this out and fix it. It's not just one player.

But I thought that since we haven’t asked G personally. that we don’t know.

Yet you use language that indicates that you know what he’s thinking.

It’s all very confusing. Seems like the last straw was him putting a neck guard on though…
Language? It's called common sense.

It doesn't take even a minor in BA of Arts to figure out that he came back here to set up where his family is located, post career, within close proximity. As in, retirement

A lot of players do that.

You're full of shit, though. Giroux said wearing a neck guard was a family decision. I don't know why you and your compatriot ever thought I said he was wearing a neck guard for money. He said it was for safety/personal reasons.

You're not the thought police. You can report me if Trump wins the next election.

Brady isn't at fault. He is gutting it out every night and he looks like he needs a timeshare in Acapulco or something. My concern is if the Senators keep losing and missing the playoffs he loses faith in the plan and decides to look elsewhere. Staios and Andlauer need to have a chat with him and settle him and everyone down.

Why would Andlauer have to sit down with a player? This team is so ****ing weird; I'm almost at my limit.

Does Jeff Vinik sit down with players and go to every single game? I feel like we went from having a couple of beat up Pontiac Fieros in Melnyk and Dorion to a couple of Pontiac Fiero Lamborghini Diablo kit cars with Andlauer and Staios.

What they need to do is insulate him.

He's still a kid and one of the closest mentors he as a young captain would have is a coach. Unfortunately for him his coach is a baboon who is in way over his head.

Lack of veteran insulation and a solid coaching staff is quite detrimental to him imo.

If we miss the playoffs again next year, you might not have to wait until after his contract. NMC starts 2025. Soft trade request next season if it's still a shit show, knowing that the Sens have that 2025 deadline to move him or lose all leverage.

It will be a team like Chicago who gets him. They will have all the assets and cap space to get it done.

This upcoming offseason is probably the most important since 2018. If they fail to make the playoffs again, let alone have another embarrassing season, it's going to be very difficult to fix things with this core.
If he requests a trade, I let him sit out. Not taking a shit deal where a player signs a contract and then forces a trade to where they want to go. You play your contract or sit the rest of it. This kind of shit is getting out on hand in sports. I want a full NTC, ask for a trade, invoke ntc when it's not to the right team. Drives me crazy. PSA...this is just a general rant.

I am not agreeing or disagreeing with your greater sentiment, but the reality is that it never works that way. Teams aren't really in a position to do that.

If they miss the playoffs again next year, and he wants out, they have to move him before his NMC kicks in. Once it kicks in, they lose all leverage in a trade.

Wasn't there rumours that Brady wanted the captaincy as part of his negotiation? Or, he didn't ask for it, but they dangled it?

In a perfect world, Claude Giroux would have come in as captain and then transitioned to Brady.

With that said, that's all armchair stuff, none of us are in the room. So other than speaking in generalizations using historical context, we have no idea if making Brady captain this early was a good or bad idea.

It was bad idea. Brady clearly isn't ready and who cares most early 20s players aren't.

But they forced it. Whether it was Brady or Dorion and DJ.

He 100% deserves criticism (he’s not the only one of course). How many instances can we point to this season where we question his maturity?

I don’t know about dislike but don’t think he’s doing himself favors by going after fan base himself. As I see it, Brady turned up the temperature on himself defending his Buffoon of a bff coach

I hope so, the trend seems to be negative but I hope he can turn this around.
Na. He was right about the fanbase. Anyone who boos the team is an absolute loser.

Ottawa unless it becomes a disaster
I cant pretend to give a flying f*** about anyone wanting out of a perennial last place team. I'll worry about stuff like that when the season isn't over before Christmas. Oh no, we may finish 30th instead of 28th if you leave, please stay.

And I am by no means placing this on Brady, love the player.

Probably the worst captain in the NHL currently
Come now, he was thrown into a rebuilding team as a captain at a very young age. He needed a mentor and at least we have Giroux there with him.

This team is young at key talent positions, Sanderson, Tkachuk, Greig, Stutzle, Norris...they are making mistakes as they don't have enough veterans on this team that stay past 1 year to show them how it is to win and play consistently. I think this team really miss a guy like Brassard.

His credibility was absolutely sewered in that Florida game. His brother made him look like a total bitch while they were getting crushed on the scoreboard. Don't know if he's the worst captain as I don't even know how you actually go about creating a ranking but it's clear he deserves a share of the blame for the mess we're in.

For all the posters on here who constantly said he'd lead the team into the fight every night as the primary reason for why he should be captain, I honestly wonder how they feel about how that's going right now.

Making 10.5M this season, on pace for 66 pts, team is in trending towards the lottery, and the vibes are as toxic as they were in 17/18.

It's not great.
