I genuinely couldn't care less what you say about me .

He came here for the retirement contract, that's it. His current production is a bonus. What says he has to be/wants to be a leader of children?

Tell us when you speak to Claude and ask him why he really wanted to come to Ottawa.
lol, he didn’t come here for a retirement contract.
Go listen to his interviews, when he signed.

Of course you couldn’t care less, but then again my response wasn’t about you.

It’s simply good for the board to challenge posts like yours out of principle.
It is? Maybe we could discuss hockey instead? Not sure we need a poster cop or a hall monitor.

Tkachuk is a great player to have but challenging other team's goalies and benches late in a 4-1 (or 5-0, etc.) is lame. To call it embarrassing might be a bit dramatic but he needs to cut that shit out.

I'm as competitive a person as you'll find and I hate losing. I played on some serious basement dwellers and would lose my shit at refs, take stupid penalties, get ejected from games and all that crap with some regularity in those garbage seasons. Then I turned 16. And I realized it does no good.

I know the NHL is different and no one in their right mind should want to curb Tkachuk's fire and enthusiasm. The players seem to respond to it (although I found Tuesday's response muted, which is interesting) so it can obviously be of use. The players often take their lead from Brady, which is good. I just want him to lead them in the direction of good defense, attention to detail and unselfish play. Lately his actions are leading them more to getting points, settling scores late in blowout games and throwing fits. It's immature and his priorities seem to be skewing a little bit. Someone needs to get him back on track. If the current coaching staff can't or won't do that then that is just one more reason to show them the door, stat.
That was a dirty as hell play. He went flying into the boards the goalie took out his legs never even went for the puck. Thats as good a reason as any to get pissed off. Doesnt matter the score, very dangerous. Losing is no reason to take bad penalties or act like that.

He was coming here either way its not a retirement contract though he was getting paid and go to go home. No brainer. To think or suggest for a second he isnt a leader is absurd as well. Thank god they have him, who knows how bad this would be if they didnt.

I just want a captain who plays well defensively, consistently, and leads the team in good habits has composure and stabilizes the team.
This is a growing issue for me with Brady, and one of the primary reasons why I want a new coach. Brady absolutely has to get religion about playing responsible defensive hockey. At present he doesn't - he blows the zone early and is often caught deep while odd man rushes go the other way. As captain he absolutely has to model the way on playing responsibly.

Here's a question - why hasn't Brady ever been deployed as a penalty killer? Here is a big, robust player and your captain - he should be out there showing the way on the PK, much like Giroux does. But no - he is our designated sitter for Too Many Men penalties. (A category in which we lead the league, BTW.) If this is my team, I am sending his @$$ over the boards to do some penalty killing - it will teach him how to play D, and make him more accountable. And, it will have the net effect of reducing the overall ice time of our fourth line players, which works fine for me...

It's not JUST about the last game. TKachuk has developed a habit of losing it late in games where we're getting crushed. It's a bad look and it's counterproductive. And challenging the bench after that play by the goalie at that point in the game is kinda dumb. I'd be pissed at that play too but mostly at the ref.

And what the hell was he doing RIGHT back out there? Did the coaching staff not see that he needed some cooling off? Didn't care? Stupid.

i would also like to see Brady on the pk, he is actually a great puck winner, has good reach and is strong as f***, also closes on players very quickly. when he wants to he is good defensively.

but he has no pride for his defensive game, he wants to chase a pretty ppg. playing him on the pk would start the work to get him some pride.

it was same with karlsson, i felt like when he was deployed on the pk regularly he was more prideful and effective in his overall defensive game.

Sure you watched or remember the game, Brady was given a 10 minute misconduct, and that was the end of the game for him, he wasn’t RIGHT back on the ice, he was back in the dressing room.

I think he came back on the ice after the penalty shot and then got the misconduct.

Are you sure YOU watched the game? Pretty sure Tkachuk was escorted to the bench by the ref and then a minute later was out there yelling at the Canes bench. Either DJ was OK with him being out there or he has no control over his players.

Here is a screen shot of Tkachuk being escorted right to the bench by the ref after the penalty shot.

physical play is extremely important.

but hockey is essentially a game of goals scored vs goals prevented.

if you have a captain who is playing to pad his ppg by chasing breakaways and coasting on the backcheck and that's the example the other high skilled and highly paid core players are following, your team isn't winning shit.

it's as simple as that.

brady fixes that part of his game and he will be a better captain and the team will win more games as well.
