I'll admit (to my shame) that Tkachuk was a polarizing pick back in 2018.

We ended up with the guy leading his class in GP, G, PTS and PIMs.

There's maybe 4 All-Stars in the entire class. No real diamonds in the rough in later rounds.

That top 10 would have Dobson, Miller, Farabee in it in a redraft.
Hayton and Kotkaniemi have shown something this year finally; they would be close to top 10

Boqvist, Zadina and Wahlstrom are probably closer to 20 than 10, Kravtsov could drop out of the 1st.

Many people , maybe most here didn't want Tkachuk in that 4 spot. In a redraft given what we can see now.. he probably goes 1. Svechnikov/Dahlin at 2 or 3.
Hughes probably goes 4.

At first, I chuckled. If we win a cup, Brady will party harder than anyone in NHL history, including Brett Hull and the Blues.

Then I thought, we've just missed the playoffs for the 5th straight year, this is cringe and reminds me of the people I'd work with in shelters near Byward.

Chychrun still looks jacked af tho, even pouring shots

Crazy to think I was upset we took Tkachuk over Zadina. Now flash 5 years later and Tkachuk is 1st in goals and pts from that draft and like 4th in assists.

Thx MTL.
It still hasn't translated into a playoff birth though, so I wouldn't brag just yet.

Tkachuk is one of the only players that I can see actually doing well in the playoffs.

Tkachuk has been great but for me he goes no higher than 3rd in a re-draft. Dahlin is a Norris candidate and likely will be for the next dozen years. Svechnikov is a much better all-around player than Brady (no shame there he is one of the best) and if he didn't play on the most defensive minded team in the league would already be viewed as a superstar.

I'd probably take Tkachuk over Hughes and Dobson but I could see why some might go with either player as well. We got a good one but it wasn't some steal. We got a player befitting 4th overall in that draft.

I could see another team with established leadership taking Svech over Brady but for the sens I’d take Brady 10/10.

Even then aside from the sens, Brady rates higher on unicorn scale.

Brady leading all picks in goals, points, toughness.

I don't think there is a bad pick between the two of them. I'd give a slight edge to Svech but I don't think there is a wrong answer here.

More than happy to have Tkachuk on our team.

Blasphemy talking about taking svechnikov over brady here.
Some people even in retrospect can’t get it right.
Those are the real unsmart ones.

100% Tkachuk over Svech. You don't get a 30 goal, PPG player who is a friggin beast in front of the net all the time. In fact, as we all know, it's very rare.

It was all about timing.

Dahlin and Svech are amazing and Hughes or Dobson would be good as well but to me there is zero doubt Brady was the player we needed and the fact his production far exceeds what many believed it would be makes him a slam dunk for the Senators.

His leadership, attitude and toughness aligned perfectly with our rebuild. The other guys would have been significant contributors but Bray immediately gave us a different swagger and presence in the NHL and media.

The team needs to keep improving and fill in the blanks but I love that he is the face of our team.

If we make the playoffs and face florida. I hope Brady doesn't hesitate to be a physical monster against his brother. MTkachuk has shown he doesn't give af who his opponents are, and will be dirty against us. I don't expect him to drop the gloves, but a big clean body check that makes their parents concerned.

And if Bennett does to any of our players what he did to Knies, Brady better be leading an assault on them.

I cant find an angle where Knies head hits the ice. I think Matts hit did the damage.
Either way sending a young kid in with zero experience to be a power forward in the playoffs is bold..

I have zero concerns that Brady would put Gudas and Ekblad through the boards, feed Bennett his teeth and generally tune everyone up.

Honestly if things get heated enough I’m not even sure Matthew would be off limits.

I have no issues with Brady showing up and having a good time, but it kind of makes me laugh knowing the history of captains in this city.

If this was Alfredsson in the early 00's, Spezza or Karlsson, there'd be 1500-word think-pieces about how their disposition isn't serious enough to be captain. "Where are their priorities!?"

The years of losing have certainly mellowed this fanbase.

That’s part of it, the other part is that the Ottawa sun writers who would have written those kinds of BS articles to influence the casuals are out of a job.

If Matthew Tkachuk takes out Cat multiple times in a playoff series the way he did in the clip I posted, Brady better respond the same way he would to Gudas or Bennett.
