This guy needs to start playing some defence.
Tkachuk should be playing better defense, but that job comes after his job of scoring as a forward. I wish out actual defencemen, especially the vet leaders did their job as defenders so the forwards didn't have to cover for them as much

Imagine doubting this beast.

Guilty as charged on draft day. But I don't feel nearly as much shame as some folks in here should be feeling for doubling down on the doubt after year one (and even still there were some diehard holdouts clinging to life after years two and three).

How much does anyone want to bet we still have more than a handful of fans that that would still today take Svechnikov over Tkachuk for this team, in this market, with this core group of players - just because the Russian kid is a slightly more dangerous offensive player (in a one-on-one situation....but yet not in overall effectiveness).

Anyways, happy to say that I got "it" immediately after seeing what BT was all about in year one as a player and a person.

And despite all the noise, our boy has quietly improved every year and emerged today as the undisputed #1 (true) Powerforward in the entire NHL. There's not even a real glaring point gap to separate him from the best wingers in the league anymore - which means his intangibles must leapfrog him overtop of several of the names that used to in front of him.

His point totals exceeded the haters predictions for his career year in the first year of his contract (after missing all of training camp and a few games no less). Now in year two of the deal he's doing things statistically the doubters would have berated people for suggesting 2 years ago......

And what a beast off the ice with the fans and in the community. We chose the right person to represent the franchise as captain. This is not an entitled American born star from a rich family thats basically the equivalent of hockey royalty. And you have to tip your hat to his parents for keeping him so well grounded and humble despite him having every good reason not to be.

Yeah we paid a premium for him during contract negotiations - and that's because we got a guy that was groomed for his entire life to be the perfect teammate and a consumate pro hockey player for whatever lucky team got him. Oh that and the fact that he's actually a damn good offensive winger to boot....

TLDR: Brady is worth even more to us than we are paying him.

At the rate he's going, he might hit his 70 point offensive ceiling by the 50 game mark
I don't think even his biggest supporters expected this offensive production from him, I get that scoring league wide is up but even relative to his peers he's doing great. Been a treat to watch him.

That’s not how it works. No matter how good your D corps is, they will be exposed until the forwards commit to playing defence. This usually comes with experience and realizing that success starts in your own end.

The longer I see both of them, the more convinced I am that we've got the better Tkachuk. Brady has way more integrity and grit than his brother, and really embraces both the leadership position he's in, and always learning to be a better player, person, and leader for the community. Kid is a real gem.
Oh f*** yeah. Matt is a POS.

Brady has turned it up a level. Genuinely believe he could go PPG this year. Every line he’s played on has been the unequivocal first line.
His game below the hash marks in the Ozone has always been his strength but he has taken that to another level again. The last couple games he has not been blowing the Dzone as much.. and he has been contributing more there.. have to watch for that to continue.

Around the bend
Unstoppable below the opposition goal line. His work down low spinning off defenders and protecting the puck has been great. Also showing patience and making smart passes after establishing control.

A treat to watch him work and lead this season.

Nope. I called it back in 2018 before he even played his fist NHL game, along with the exact reasons why he would have such high offensive production:

Loved that shot of Brady clapping away and rallying the guys on the bench in the 3rd. I have never seen that before. He looked like a coach!

Gold star for you!

Dude is great and his passing was under-rated from the get-go but I think his skating and shot have both improved a ton since he broke in to the league and I expect he, like the best players do, will continue to enter each season with a new trick, or improved ability because he just needs to do it.

I think PPG is in the bag - he will be 90+
