Player Discussion Brady Tkachuk (LW) - Part XI

Brady's listed at 6' 4'', Drake at 6'3", but it looks to be more than that.
Has Brady still been growing up until 6-12 months ago?
During the season before last there were times he seemed to have that still-growing clumsiness.

Absolutely incredible story and article on Brady. Well worth the read.

(Much easier on the eyes if you have the Score app fyi)

Hey guys. My apologies if this has been discussed ad naseum in this thread. Wanted to know what Sens fans think Brady’s ceiling is? Keith was my favorite player growing up (hence my username), so I’ve enjoyed following the next generation of Tkachuks.

Brady seems poised for a breakout ala MacKinnon. He’s generated a ton of chances his first few seasons but it hasn’t translated into big production. Do you guys think that trend will continue do to lack of finishing ability, etc., or do you think the puck luck will start to turn his way a bit, especially as the team around him gets better? Does he have 90+ point potential, or he is more of a 60-80 guy?

As an enormous Brady fan, no I do not think he will ever get 90 points.

I see him top out as an 80pt guy, with maybe an up random season where he comes close to or hits 90 pts but generally will fall in that 75-80 pt pace range. All speculation at this point though. We know he's capable of 70 pt on a good year anyways.

We'll see if he keeps growing.

I think he will once or twice in his career. Especially if scoring league wide keeps trending up and the Sens put together an epic season.

To answer the first person, I don't see him breaking out like MacKinnon. I see Brady as more of the Landeskog analog.

I think he is more of a 60-80 guy. I'm not sure he will ever be enough of a PP producer for him to be consistently be above that. That's not to say he isn't a good player on the PP because he does an important role there, it just won't show up in production. Safe bet for 30 goals a year and in seasons where he has luck on his side could touch 40 goals. His playmaking is underrated as well as his shot from distance but he isn't generating the chances in transition like higher end players. His offensive game is all about what he does from the hashmarks down so it will be tough for him to match the production that certain metrics expect. That's not a slight on his ability, he is a good finisher imo. I love the player and what he brings, it just isn't going to fully show up on the scoresheet

I think he'll be a perennial 35g 35a player which is something I'm fine with. As long as he knows how to use his body to draw defenders to him or take advantage of open ice near goalies, he'll put up points and physically punish anyone near him

Tkachuk has had naysayers since the day we drafted him. It started with not being able to score at all. Last year he exceeded numbers that many thought would be career highs, in a season where his line mates both missed considerable time (with only sub par replacements available) and he himself missed training camp

Who knows what his best season will be numbers wise. I think he'll be able to consistently pot 30. To me, his physical game as a first line talent is as important to the team as numbers. If the opponents put out their top pairs against him, it leaves our next line playing against less than top pair. And if the opponents put out their top pairs against the Stuetzle line, then they're going to struggle to contain Tkachuk.

Good post, most don't realize how important Tkachuk is to this team on the ice & not to mention everything he does off the ice to keep this group tight & together.

Brady is in his 5th season now he can't continue making the most stupid passes to the opposing team.

I have never seen a player, especially a star player, more complacent with puck. Which is in stark contrast to the intensity he plays with. What a weird player.

Him, Norris, Chabot all have to step up. They are 8 mill players.
