Love Brady Takchuk but let’s not pretend that in 2-3 years if he’s not happy with the team he could force a trade.

These are the Takchuks - media masters, power brokers all over the family, connected and powerful unlike any family in the NHL.

Anyone could force a trade at any time with enough leverage. Very different conversation from this so-called opt-out nonsense.

ETA: I also don’t know if this is intentional à la Melnyck, but it’s spelled Tkachuk. (And if it is intentional, why?)

Not just being a homer but I get different vibes from Brady than the other two. He just seems to have a better personality and meeting up with Alfie to discuss what it means to be a captain in this city, I cant see him forcing his way out. I mean never say never but like not in the next couple years anyways.

Alfie and him met only after it was brought up by Wallace in Methot in their podcast. It was weird that Alfie and him have never met

i agree though Brady seems a bit different

Alfie didn’t really have a relationship with the team again until a few months ago, that might be why.

I see this in their play when it comes to playing on the edge as well. My leafer friends try to talk about Brady like he's a dirty hitter. Brady has no issue getting physical, but as of yet, he isn't a dirty player by any means and doesn't have the track record of MTkachuk with plays that cross the line.

More just seeing all these posts about Brady being here for 8 years - just being real. I think his head is in it for a run here, but if this thing collapses and in 2-3 years we are fumbling around as a non playoff team, I could see him asking out.

Winning will bring stability, that’s what Brady bought into is a good run with the group of friends he has, so if we aren’t winning and he’s 5-6 years into being a Sen with no playoffs - we won’t be feeling so comfy going into the off-seasons

Ya, ok that was what Hayes (Overdrive) was getting at I think. That if Brady is unhappy that he could leave by forcing a trade.

Never know, but with the new additions and the core so young and talented I would hope and expect that we make the playoffs a number of times and make some runs during Brady's contract. But if we haven't done much in the playoffs in the first 5 or 6 years of his contract then it means that the rebuild was a bust anyway and moving him at that time would just help us try again (super pessimistic).

Matthew Tkachuk just requested a trade. I am listening to Overdrive (Toronto radio) and the host (Hayes) is saying something about Brady Tkachuk having an ability to opt out of his contract after 2 or 3 years. Is this true? I think he was just salty that Matthews might walk as well so he slipped in that we might lose Brady. But I don't know.
Lol that is not true of any contract in the NHL. No.

Brady doesn't even have trade protection for the next 3 full seasons.

Neither does Norris. And we're all talking about cap. We're going to hit a stretch where salary>cap so hopefully the barn is full to pay for it all

Young Sens all locking down their future wives. Maybe it's just me but I rather them settle down early, avoid the off ice distractions and nonsense so they can fully focus on winning a cup.

Congrats Brady!
Impossible.

All young athletes demand to live in NY or LA so they can party all night and shop with celebrities.

Wait, that goof Hayes was suggesting Brady would want out? lmaoooo
I mean I can see it. The Tkachuks are pretty ruthless. If the team is a bottom feeder for another few years its not exactly what any of these guys signed up for

I won't be too worried about it. He is not Sidney Crosby lol

Agreed he seems fully bought in even to the point of rallying other players to want to be here. He seems like an infectious personality and magnetic leader.

Look how admired he is already and tell me anyone who wouldn't like to have the Alfie status in the city.

A few, "Brady! Brady! Brady" chants and he won't be going anywhere for a long while. Hope he retires as a career Senator.

He is under contract for the next 6 years it’s Ottawa or he can stop playing professional hockey for a bit . It’s up to him lol

Forgetting Dany Heatley? A player wanting out becomes a detriment to a locker room and very often their request gets fulfilled, contract or not.

I am not saying that I think Brady would do that, but let's not pretend it has never happened.

Ya Hayes was speculating that if the Sens aren't winning that Brady would want out. But I think this will be too good a team to walk away from.

I really do believe the Sens will make the playoffs next year with that top 6 and Jake Sanderson coming in. If ol' Jake Sanderson puts up a Calder performance next year we definitely will be playoff bound imo.

Hopefully Brady's teammates will one day say they would stab someone with their skate and not ask why if that is what Brady wanted.
