Just seeing this, absolutely fantastic stuff

More fans seemed more emotionally invested in this pick in 2018 than the Boucher pick in 2021

Better Draft; Higher pick in the draft and some good options probably lent to that.

The Zadina crowd was significant.

This year at 7OA there does not seem to be near the level of table banging for specific players either.
Wasn't on the Zadina train, but was all aboard the Dobson train

Tkachuk is a fantastic get for us in 2018

There were a lot of appealing options that year,

I was defending Tkachuk as a good option, but leaned a bit towards Zadina or Dobson. I was skeptical about Hughes, Boqvist, Bouchard and Wahlstrom who were also floated as options. Obviously I was off wrt Zadina and Hughes, but was perfectly happy taking Tkachuk over Zadina even if Zadina was who I'd likely have taken.

Any of Tkachuk, Hughes and Dobson would have been great picks at 4, but I'm happy with who we got.

I was more Tkachuk, Dobson, Hughes with a strong preference to Tkachuk and Dobson. I was not on the Zadina, Wahlstrom, Bouchard trains at all.

Dobson is an RFA this year. Isles will have to keep him happy.

Didn’t want zadina. Wanted Hughes. And there was a non Ottawa source that said he heard Hughes was our choice. Forget who

Gotta jump over an hour in if you want just Watson.

Brady was the absolute homerun best pick in the draft for this team. He is awesome in his own right on the ice, but he’s also the hero/captain that this franchise so badly needed.

Montreal should be ashamed, but also thank you for helping put us in track for the next decade!

What are friends for :)

I wanted Tkachuk, Bouchard RD, Dobson or Kotkaniemi, all would have helped but Tkachuk continues to be my favourite of the bunch.

LOL!

Thank goodness they didn't end up with him.

Any of the others and we are looking good.

Agree Brady is exactly what this team needed and his impact is more than what he produces on the scoresheet.

Those complaining about Brady not putting up enough points, are the Avs complaining about Landeskog and mad he isn't Huberdeau or Hamilton?

No they are not.

Landy and Brady are very similar and I remember back to the 2011 draft how much I wanted to draft Landeskog and would have taken him #1. You need warriors and captains like Landy and Brady to win Cups. Yes you need other players but Brady is the ultimate competitor and he is going to bring us a Cup one day

Sens wanted Landy as well, brought him back for second interview, just prior to draft, and he was a Sens fan. Just went to early.

MacKinnon and Makar were instrumental in Colorado winning the SC.

I don't think they'd be upset if they had Huberdeau either, but having MacKinnon and Rantanen changes the calculus.

Also, Landeskog has been pretty much a pt per game in 3 of the last 4 seasons, he's putting up plenty pts, if Brady does that nobody will be complaining he's not putting up enough pts.

Absolutely. But stick Brady with Mack and Rantanen and he would put up huge points as well

Huge impact, as far as marketing and name recognition it was the best choice they could have made.
He treats the local kids like his friends, absolute homerun

Matthew Tkachuk just requested a trade. I am listening to Overdrive (Toronto radio) and the host (Hayes) is saying something about Brady Tkachuk having an ability to opt out of his contract after 2 or 3 years. Is this true? I think he was just salty that Matthews might walk as well so he slipped in that we might lose Brady. But I don't know.

Not true from what I've seen on cap friendly.

No, this isn't the NBA. Player options don't get handed out as far as I know.

Lmao, what the hell is an opt out.

Brady will not leave this team. We are going to be one of the best and most feared teams soon. He is not going to leave just to play with his brother and hope to replicate what we will have here. His best friends on this team. That means a whole lot.
