Speculation: With Parayko done for the season, does St. Louis start selling off?

Who would they sell off? So far, no team has met Armstrong's asking price to ask Schenn to waive. Everyone was crying for several weeks about uniting the Schenn bros...well, look who needs a RHD now and has familiarity doing business with Dubas' Penguins...

And if you think Parayko's injury means decimating the locker room, I invite you to check out what the team has been saying recently about playing for each other. Spoiler: it's not a team that is looking to trade its captain and other key players just for the sake of making a move to appease the media.

There's a big difference between a RHD i'm assuming you're hinting at Luke Schenn, and replacing anywhere close to what Parayko brought us. Leading offensive defenseman, used in primarily a shutdown role, 15 5v5 goals.

That's not replaceable on the roster, or externally for this season.

The practical thing is to consider selling alot more now but for pieces like Schenn who are under contract and spots we will have to fill next year if we want a chance keeping the prices very high.

Guys like Faksa/Texier/Leddy/Suter should probably be sold though, and that may open up a bit more. I can still see the argument of not giving up on the team given this hot stretch. But Parayko being out means the Blues are DOA come playoff time if we even get there as our chances prior to this news weren't very good, and they are even more insurmountable now.

No reason for the blues to sell just to sell
but gosh darn it there just aren't enough sellers and I want more of that sweet sweet deadline drama!

They could. Lots of teams could sell. Could see BM63, MR96, AT89, MM16, BN29, SL29, KL82, BB8 all on the move.

Do we have any future 2nd round picks left to spend on aging defensemen? That seems to be our thing. As said, I fully expect Army to trade for a defenseman before the TDL.

I don't think losing one player will have a GM jumping on selling when they are in the thick of the wildcard race. Although, as an Oiler fan, I hope Armstrong does decide too, and sends us Binnington. I just don't see it.

That Matthew Kessel kid didn't look too bad when I saw him play. Does he get the recall here?

Probably, unless we bring a replacement in very quickly. But for now I guess we will play either Broberg or Leddy on their offside.
Maybe RD Jokiharju for a 3rd? Had a nice 4 Nations bump, and has since been scratched to preserve his health for trade. Won't replace CP, but also won't break the bank if ya ain't selling off/buying/treading water on the bubble.

He doesn't really feel like an 'Army guy'. He usually gets older vet on a decline, hopefully with still some gas in the tank, to fill in. See Scandella, Leddy, Fowler.

I think we're going to find out very quickly, but from watching and following Parayko isn't just one player, it'd be probably the same effect if it would've been Thomas instead of Parayko, and we are in the race we don't exactly have great odds of making the playoffs.

If we're able to sustain above .500 without Parayko, we're either going to be getting extremely lucky, or Monty is the greatest coach of all time.

We don't have the top end depth on defense that I think would be required to keep the momentum rolling with losing your #1 defenseman who is also your shut down defenseman.

The Blues were already sellers? Try to make the playoffs fine. Good on you. Look at the standings and your potential matchups if you make it in- I'm sorry, but you're sellers.

If they sneak in as the last WC they are likely playing Winnipeg, who they are 1-1-1 against this year. That series would be one hell of a Goalie match up.
