Never knew but I gather Brady is having a house built in New Jersey.
also Tom Fitzgerald is literally his cousin
and his wife (Emma Farinacci) is from NJ ,John Farinacci's (2019 NHL Draft) Sister and Ryan Donato's cousin;

Don't want to read too much into that but it does make me think the Tkachuk family (and probably Brady) aren't exactly thrilled with the team's performance through the first 7 years of his hockey career.

Staios and Andlauer have done the right thing publically denying rumours and stating how much they like Brady and want him to continue playing in Ottawa, but this nonsense about soft tampering just makes Andlauer looks like a whiner.

Save the complaining for the actual outrage that is the Dadonov 1st round pick penalty and lack of disclosure prior to the sale of the team.

I think it's all part of the play for an exception on that pick penalty to be shifted and/or lessened. This organization has been bent over pretty hard since he took over and I think he's just trying to get more attention.

Can we force the Rags to have to take on Garrioch? Garrioch + Brooks is what the NYR media deserves

Well Claire, I think with all the noise round the organization as of the last week or two, Mr. Andlauer and Steve Staios put all hands on deck knowing they had to make a big move to change the conversation. While Bruce's Sunday column was a fixture of the Ottawa sports community back 10 or 20 years ago, with the overall decline in readership and the fanbase moving on to digital playforms, I think that Steve Staios felt that this was a trade that they could afford to make. How Bruce Garrioch being dealt to the Rangers organization will affect the Brady Tkachuk situation? I think the team is just hoping that it will give them added incentive to win more games, and winning will silence the critics.

... I always had a feeling you were really Garrioch in disguise!

I said this in the other thread but Andlauer isn't ignorant enough not to know how this stuff works.

Causing an uproar isn't that he actually thinks this is something that the league should investigate. It's meant to make it into the biggest possible story that the team is behind keeping Brady and not shopping him. They want the market to know that they want to keep Brady.

It's possible that there could be some other games being played here, who knows. Realistically, you have three parties here, the Senators org', Brady and his family/management team, and the Rangers or other teams who might inquire about him. I find it hard to believe that Larry Brookes randomly decided to start some Brady to New York rumour like he is some HFBoards poster claiming to be an insider. My question is, who called in the favour? Was it the Rangers, or was it Tkachuk's people?

... I always had a feeling you were really Garrioch in disguise!

Doesn't check out. He always wears a suit and tie to the games, not a Ceci jersey.

They (the Tkachuk family) weren't thrilled about Brady being drafted by us in the first place. Keith slipped up and said as much on a locked in segment. He quickly backpedalled obviously, and said some pretty typical stuff about going in the right direction blah blah blah.

Handing him the captaincy and 8 mil a year to him and his bestie helped with that im sure.

The clock on our success is running out alot more quickly than people will care to admit. I think Brady will be playing in the States before his contract is up with us.

That’s not what he said or alluded to at all.

They weren't just the Ottawa Senators at the time though, they were the Melnyk owned, not really serious about hockey, Ottawa Senators.

I know you love your gotcha moments so here ya go:

Locked on Sens Episode 888 "Keith Tkachuk Interview: it's time for the Ottawa Senators to be a Stanley Cup Team"

At the 8:50 mark a direct quote from Keith:
"Me and my wife were just talking about this and you know this might offend people, but we were pretty wishy washy when he first got drafted there"

Oops, and then he does a 180.

No doubt they weren't thrilled. Like it or not the Sens are one of the least attractive destinations in the league for players, particularly Americans.

Hopefully that changes with new ownership and management, plus the prospect of a new downtown arena on the horizon, but I bet they were pretty pissed we took him.

What worries me about the Tkachuk family is that they are very difficult to negotiate with. If they and Brady decide they want a change and it's past July 1st and he has his full NMC, does anyone think he'd do the team a favour and agree to go to a destination that's not at the top of his list? Have serious doubts about that, and that would put us in a very difficult position to demand a fair trade return.

Same crest on the front though, and it's not like we've seen massive improvement under Andlauer either.

The Tkachuks operate as a unit. We've seen it before with Brady's negotiations, and with Keith publically calling out the Panthers org on Matthews behalf.

The vibe I get is that they're probably not as patient as we are.

Ya I recall that one, he said they need to play more like Brady’s team in Ottawa, more in your face style hockey.

I don’t know how you read that as a “slip”. I think he said it very intentionally and with the state of the franchise at the time, it’s not really a shocker.

Friedman said the same thing, and also said Brady ended up loving Ottawa. Seems odd to hold onto a feeling he had 7 years ago before ever experiencing anything with the team or city as if that is relevant at all today.

Yes he did. He still wasn't thrilled about being drafted by us though, as I pointed out to you in a previous post with concrete proof.

Maybe slip was the wrong word then. He said what he said though. Keep in mind this interview was done after being awarded the captaincy and 8 mil per was given out, to him and his best friend who also got 8 mil which is looking like a pretty dumb contract now.

Of course things are gonna look up after that. I'd love my employer rolling out the red carpet for me too

You must not be paying attention.

This org did a 180 in professionalism since he took over. If anyone could turn that many years of disaster, with squandered picks and poor pro scouting in 1 season, they are a miracle worker.

... You guys have patience?

For real though, is anyone under the illusion that the Tkachuks #1 priority isn't themselves? It's fine, I totally get it. I just wish they were more quiet about it. Matthew sticking his fingers into Bradys contract negotiation left a bad taste in my mouth that still lingers, and seeing him like a post about Brady/Rag rumours is in the same vein.

Friedman talked about this during the contract negotiations before he ever signed and when the Tkachuks were mad. He actually straight up said Brady did not want to be drafted by Ottawa but that he ended up really loving it.

I don’t think Keith said this because of the contract. I think Brady came here, was embraced by the fans and community, became best friends with several of his teammates etc and his feelings changed. And they got new ownership along the way.

Maybe if we keep losing he wants out. But I think it’s pretty obvious if we iced a team that could win hockey games that Brady would be more than happy to be here.

You're right that it's not going to turn around in 1 season, it's going to take patience and hardwork from Andlauer and Staios to repair this mess.

Patience that, after 7 years regardless of ownership, I'm willing to bet the Tkachuks don't have.

I'm not saying this season, or soon, but like I said-- I don't think Brady is going to play out the remainder of his contract with us. Bookmark this and I'll eat crow if I'm wrong.

Lol c'mon, obviously. Winning makes anyone happy. We're going on 8 years of doing the opposite of that though, and it's still probably gonna be a bit longer before the mess is fully cleaned up.

The clock has been ticking for the Tkachuks and is gonna run out sooner than people clearly care to admit is what I'm saying.

Well everyone’s #1 priority is themselves. But I don’t think Matthew and Brady are identical people.

Matthew said himself that he wanted to sign long-term in Calgary and it was the team that bridged him because they wanted to fit other things under the cap. I believe he also wanted to be captain and they didn’t give it to him.

I’ve said numerous times I think eventually Brady could run out of patience and want out, but I don’t know why people repeatedly compare him to Matthew. They’re brothers, not clones of each other. And they have different situations and experiences.

I wasn't really meaning the hockey side of it. That's still a battle. Same crest, and the hockey side is a slow climb, but the organization was a train wreck under Melnyk on and off the ice and it was well known publicly, likely even more so in the inner circles that the Tkachuk's would be privy to. Can't imagine it was at all an appealing situation to be drafted onto a team that was a mess of drama every other week and wasn't a serious, professional operation.

Andlauer has spent to the cap this year and last which is a huge change for the team. Can't expect to compete in this league without at least that. Also haven't seen them selling draft picks for financial considerations either, which is a big change. Heatley, Leeder & Alfie welcomed back. Arena back on track. Investment and renos on the medical side among others. Various hires.
