It's an interesting spin on Andlauer's motives for commenting on this. Can't imagine the NHL could officially use this situation to justify amending the punishment for Dadonov, but it might soften the league's stance.

Call me naive, but I don't think it has anything to do with the Dadonov pick. To me, he's sending a message to the other teams here, not to the league.

I think it's odd that a tampering statement was just released and now this. The reason, IIRC, was about how fast new signings were released on freeagent day this past summer....It didn't seem any different than other years. I think it was a smoke screen. The Rangers doubled down and Andlauer spoke up.

It's obvious Brady is one of the best if not the best power forward in the NHL. I imagine every team in the NHL would want him & it would be unbelievably stupid to trade away one of the best power forwards in the NHL. Given it's a position this team has needed over the last decade or longer. The Rangers brass like a tough team given the players they have acquired & drafted & Brady would likely make them a Stanley Cup contender & losing Brady would once again rip this team apart & regulate them back to the bottom of the league.

And this nonsense that he doesn't play defence is ridiculous, if you watch other teams almost every team in the NHL now plays a forward high on the wing as soon as they gain possession & it's the forwards job to release quickly to draw the defencemen back with him if possession is gained on their side. Even the 67s & Colts were doing this on Sunday as well as that dreaded back pass on the PP. They gain possession pass the puck up the boards, the forward that has released gains possession & passes the puck to the first player coming his way at full speed.

Personally I think now is probably the time to look to trade Brady, as much as that sucks. I find it real hard to believe he'll want to stick around if they don't make the playoffs again and I can't see many reasons to think next year will be magically better. I'd trade him while the team still has leverage and before his NMC kicks in. His value around the league is as high as I think it'll ever be.

Better now than when everyone knows you have no choice (see Heatley 2 trade, Karlsson, Stone, Hoffman, the list goes on).

I'd be looking at making a kind of reverse Hossa for Heatley deal. I think there's probably a team that thinks Brady can out them over the top in the playoffs and is willing to trade another good young player to change the mix.

I said this yesterday. Definitely seems to me like a part of the play for a reduced punishment for Dorion's antics.

There’s a master plan here? This morning your Captain is talking about some thing he said he didn’t even know about yesterday and he’s denying trade rumours - it’s just bad for business.

Sens have a must win and this is what we are talking about? If there is a master plan it’s to distract from their lose and 25th place overall. That’s it.

I don't think the team needs to be distracted from. They're playing better and have a big game coming up, no different than their other games recently. They owned the game the other night and Forsberg couldn't muster up an important save, it happens. Still 4-2-1 in their last 7. On to the next one.

I have no problem with what Andlauer did, nor with Brady addressing it, it was a story regardless. Our last owner would have embarrassed himself with a csi investigation and law suit, so call it an improvement.

When players are defending the owner - the organization is losing. It feel chaotic to me, the most Melnyck thing he’s done.

I don’t like Andlauer’s tact here, I think he feels Ottawa has an inferior complex for whatever reasons he has (because he doesn’t understand the city and he’s just going off his Toronto and Montreal bias) - now Brooks is talking about it on Spitting Chciklets and Brady is answering questions about the owner being traded. Dumb move, Bettman shot it down this morning.

It also puts Brady Takchuk in a situation where he has to tell us all how much he loves us fans, and he loves the city, and he loves the team - EK, Spezza, Alfie all Caotains and all said the same thing even after they left. Meaningless words

You can love the city of Ottawa, the fans, the trainers and still be a New York Ranger and say those things. Pointless talk here from Andlauer and Brady. Feels like when the GM says he has confidence in his coach

Nothing burger imo, but you're allowed your opinion. I think Brady was going to be addressing this with or without Andlauer's comments, and the story out of NY alone generated the majority of the attention.

Where is Brooks backtracking on twitter? I don't see anything there, and he doubled down on spittin chicklets.
someone said there was a backtrack in an article but there is no evidence of the backtrack.. I if you can't produce a source on something claimed to happen then you should backtrack your claim.

They didn't mention a Brooks backtrack. Brooks was not backtracking when he said he had 3 sources tell him ... and he is very well connected with the Rangers. Ferraro says if you want to know something about the Rangers ask Larry Brooks; around 8:54

NO EVIDENCE of a backtrack. Someone saying he did without showing he did or identifying where and when he did is not providing evidence and they should backtrack especially when there is evidence out of Brooksie's own mouth to the contrary.

or to tell people to back off

This is year 8 of no Playoffs. We have zero idea of what year 9 may bring.

By 2026/2027, Andlauer could have:
Chabot on last year
Batherson last year
Norris/Tkachuk on second to last year
Zub on second to last year

5 key figures. 5 guys who will be above 25 and not one playoff year.

Andlauer needs to make sure, they don't start waltzing into Staios' office and asking out.

Andlauer will lose Giroux to age by the end of the 25/26 season.
Jensen by the end of the 25/26 season due to an expiring contract

The last things he needs is other teams sending messages to his players. "Hey the door is open here". The Sens will be dead. As it is they fight an uphill battle. Any tampering "soft or hard" is poison to them.

Larry Brooks of the New York Post indicatedthat the Trouba trade was just the beginning as Drury attempts to shake up his struggling roster. He claimed that Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk had become the Rangers' primary trade target.

Tkachuk, 25, is among the league's top power forwards. He's in the fourth season of an eight-year contract with an average annual value of $8.2 million and lacks no-trade protection this season. Brooks believes adding the gritty Tkachuk would "immediately change the Rangers' identity.

Brooks suggested it could take a significant package offer to pry Tkachuk away from the Senators, and would likely include playmaking winger Alexis Lafrenière. However, TSN's Darren Dreger reported no trade talks between the two clubs, pointing out that the Senators had publicly rejected all trade offers for their captain.

Buy or Sell: Sell

The Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch reports the Senators have no intention of trading Tkachuk, citing a "well-placed source" who said the club has no plans to trade their captain and never discussed it. Brooks subsequently walked back his earlier report, saying Tkachuk was the prototype forward they sought.

  • Haha
Reactions: Sens of Anarchy
Hoping Brady puts up double digit shots against the quacks again.

After TML they're my most hated team. If he wants to give Gudas a huge bone crunching hit, even better
