Why is MTkachuk just painted as "one of 700 NHL players"?It doesn't seem to matter who he fights, people get mad if he fights late in a game because he's being selfish, they get mad if he fights a scrub because he's too important to be off the ice, they get made if he fights early because it gives the other team momentum.
Now it's that he won't fight his brother, one guy out of 700 NHL players, and that's a line too far for some...
82 games a season, if the team can't follow him into battle without him taking on one guy out of 700 then we're in trouble.
It's a team sport, there are 20 guy, one of them can pick up the slack the odd time that the other Tkachuk needs to be put in his place.
You speak of fans having flexible standards, yet the contorting of the standards for Brady somehow don't register, he's in the wrong according to someone no matter what choice he makes, he literally can't win, fight and he should have picked his spots better, don't fight and he's not leading by example, forget the other 81 games...
We don't play Florida 82 times a year, he's one player in the league. We have 19 other guys every game that could step in the what, 4 times a year we play florida? Why is MTkachuk just painted as "one of 700 NHL players"?
He's legitimately a top 3 rat in the league. When we play Florida, he leads the charge in pushing the line against our teams. Before Bennett, Gudas (when he was there), Cousins, Gadjovic, or any other guy, its MTachuk taking a late hit or starting something in scrum.
MTkachuk seems to take advantage of the fact that Brady won't do anything and plays his dirty game against us. Brady has always been a hard hitter, but never dirty, but this warrior status we've anointed him with doesn't hold when we play Florida. Our guys clearly aren't willing to follow Brady into battle against Florida. If Matthew Tkachuk doesn't have an issue pushing the line against us, why is Brady worried about what his family thinks? What's going to happen if we play Florida in the playoffs?
I can't speak for anyone else's standards but mine are simple for Brady. Hit hard, be a menace in the opponent's zone, put effort into D, but if someone is taking liberties with our whole rosters, be the first there and send a message, but make sure it's not against 4th line scrubs that'll cause us to lose him, have it against the other team's leaders.
To each their own, but for me being a "warrior that drags this team to battle" means showing up every game against the opponent's best, whether that be their best scorer, defender, or pest.We don't play Florida 82 times a year, he's one player in the league. The reality is if it's not you complaining about what he does, someone else will. and it's not like Brady is a wallflower in games he plays his brother, he's still out there battling all over the ice, the only think he isn't doing is fighting his brother, and that goes both ways.
It's such a bizarre thing to get upset about.
We need a Chris Neil. Brady can't do it all. When Neil was here, we didn't have a Brady. Why is MTkachuk just painted as "one of 700 NHL players"?

I'd love it if we can develop a Neil type player. He was the perfect enforcer who didn't get himself into trouble, but could also play the game. He wasn't a defensive or offensive blackhole and hit hard.We need a Chris Neil. Brady can't do it all. When Neil was here, we didn't have a Brady.
The roster is going to change in the next year I think. Hockey trades. People here are doing trades and ufa signing scenarios under the mindset of the previous regime, even if they don't know it. The talk of waiting to get a coach in the offseason because people aren't available applies to all levels of the organization. It's going to take some time and I hope the organization is better for it.I'd love it if we can develop a Neil type player. Neiler was an absolute stud.
You really can't let this go can you? Your idea that it has to be Brady standing up to his brother borders on ludicrous; I guess you feel that Timmy should be the only guy to have any assists, Korpi should play all 82 games or that Giroux should be the only guy to take every important faceoff?Because he's supposed to be this unicorn power forward this team will follow into battle no?
Is MacEwan the guy our team will follow into battle if he "stands up" to MTkachuk? If Brady is going to be a tough guy and rack up penalty minutes, do it against guys that are being dirty or pushing the line, like MTkachuk, not scrubs on Florida like Cousins or Gadjovich. Taking on your actual brother sends more of a message to your teammates than just racking up PIM playing at being a tough guy.
What a great false equivalency. As if having to stand up to rats at the level of MTkachuk is an occurrence in every single game the same way faceoffs, assists, starts, etc.,You really can't let this go can you? Your take on this is complete BS. Give it a rest. What a great false equivalency. As if having to stand up to rats at the level of MTkachuk is an occurrence in every single game the same way faceoffs, assists, starts, etc.,
It's okay to like Brady, but it's also okay to let go of the notion that he will "fearlessly lead this team into battle" when he's concerned about his mom getting mad at him.

Your takes are a complete joke. It's just comical
All the evidence has indicated that as soon there is pressure on this team, Brady is the first one to completely fold and throw childish tantrums and then blame everyone else with no self reflection/awareness
I wonder how hard and far Keith and this Organization has to go just to get Brady into the All Star game LOL!!!

Doesn't mean I think Brady is a crap player or anything, it's a legitimate critique of his leadership on the ice and I hope he changes or we'll be ragdolled in the playoffs if we face the Panthers.
Maybe if he didn't defend DJ to start the year he could be in a playoff position now.Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk laments another lost season in Ottawa | TSN
Brady Tkachuk was convinced this season would be different. The Ottawa Senators captain felt the same about 2022-23. And the campaign before that. A franchise that finally appeared ready for a playoff push after last making the NHL's spring dance in 2017, Ottawa sits 28th in the overall...www.tsn.ca
Brady admits he thought the Sens were going to the playoffs at the start of the last two seasons.
Maybe next year.
Really? You think the lesson to be learned is that we shouldn’t defend or stand up for people that we care about? I doubt he will stop defending DJ just because he has a different job, I mean is that really how far a person’s loyalty should extend?Maybe if he didn't defend DJ to start the year he could be in a playoff position now.
He was defending DJ at the all star game. Hope that he moves on now that DJ has another job.
Sniffing glue was and always will be a bad idea. Leave it alone. It's no secret why he was named Captain of the Team. It is not for his leadership skills, nor he has shown any in his 5 years in the league
It just made the most sense to name him captain for marketing reasons.
I like Tkachuk as much as the average Sens fan, but he isn't even the best forward on the team, or even having a year that shows he's the the best player on the team.Tkachuk was an all star last yr & he is an allstar again this yr, he's consistent & does so many good things on the ice including some nifty passing. Best player on the team, he can do everything & a great leader.
Is there a player that looks worse now?Remember when the usual suspects were trashing Brady constantly for his defense? Turns out he was simply doing what that bozo clown DJ Smith was asking him.
Hes been far better defensively since Martin took over and it was a nice defensive play which created his 2nd goal of the night.
He must read your posts....I like Tkachuk as much as the average Sens fan, but he isn't even the best forward on the team, or even having a year that shows he's the the best player on the team.
