Shawn Simpson is full of it. Their are many Rafa's not signed yet in the NHL.

Brady will be signed in the next 10 days to a 7-8 year contract!

Nothing factual, but I too think he’ll be signed. More likely a bride deal though. Probably somewhat similar length to his brother. Value is hard to constitute for Brady, cause depending on who you ask it varies. Some would likely say he’s worth 7+ because of everything he brings, others would say maybe 4.5-5 based on stats and such

Remember when RFAs shut up and earned as UFAs? Good times. Now we're paying 21 year olds 6 million dollars for what they might be in 3 years when they are barely 3rd liners.
Someone should tell my next employer this!

'you know.. Ill have a few more certifications in five years.. give me an extra 50k ;)'

Tkachuks are going to bring in the age of super teams where players force themselves to teams like the NBA has now.

After signing a 7-8M x 8YR contract Brady will have his UFA status at 29 and could leave and go wherever he wants with 50M in his bank account. We're not talking about indentured servitude here.

Sens have no obligation to make him a UFA at 25 just because he wants it. In fact, they have certain rights over Brady's hockey career having spent a top 5 pick on him, hence Brady being a restricted free agent (RFA) and not an unrestricted free agent (UFA). They hold most of the leverage until he reaches or gets closer to UFA status, when players get full rights to decide their own future like where they will play, for how much and how long.

Dorion should make it clear to Brady that if he wants to be a UFA as soon as possible he can take 1YR bridge deals for the next 4 years and make nowhere close to what he would make over the next 4YRs compared to what he'd make if he signed long-term. Make it clear to him there will be a significant cost to become a UFA at 25 instead of the traditional 27-29 and see which he'd prefer.

If you did that you’d be asking for a club to offer sheet him… Kotkanemi style

Tons of Canadian players hate it too.
Taxes are a pain.

I love when people think that hockey players who get paid millions care about every last penny, and don't want governments to use any of it for:

Infrastructure
Public Programs
Parks
Education
Environment

Etc.

And that every factor in their playing career follows a libertarian creed.

Look... I hate Melnyk as much as the next guy, but he opened up his wallet for Murray and Chabot, and I see no reason why he wouldn't do the same for Brady.

This whole "cheapskate" thing is true to an extent but c'mon guys...

Geez some fans are nutty. Tkachuk isn’t getting dealt. Odds are him and his agent are angling for a shorter term deal that gets him closer to FA while he’s still young and can cash in on another big contract in the future.
Obviously the sens would like to avoid that, but it takes 2 to tango to get the player and team to hammer out a deal. At this point in time Tkachuk isn’t available for trade, nor should he be.
Tkachuk s camp is doing what they think is best for the future of the player in terms of making money and having options open for the future.
Ottawa is still in rebuild mode and has drafted very well in recent years. There is no guarantee their players pan out. Management also has a history of not wanting to pay their guys when it’s time for new contracts.
I’m sure the deal Tkachuk signs will reflect his concerns. Not saying Tkachuk wants to bolt after this current deal, but it covers his ass in case the rebuild goes sideways and it gives him a chance to make even more money in the long run after the cap goes up in a few years.
It’s kind of a similar situation to what Kaprizov is doing with the wild currently.

I had trouble sleeping last night thinking about the psychological distress that the NHL players must be living because the NHL teams dont want to give them all the money they are asking for . Lately we see agents leaking informations to the press because the negociation doesnt go fast enough or the bad NHL teams dont want to give them everthing they ask . We see reports of frustration coming from the players side and i'm having a hard time reading this. I often have to stay away from my PC because of the stress of the situation , having trouble breathing. Later on when i'm back to normal i feel sorry for the players having to face those evil onwers , idk how they are able to play after all they have to go through, i wouldnt be able to do it .

Unlikely. Sens have ponied up money on long-term deals for their future studs.

Gave Chabot 8M x 8YRs, Batherson 4.975M x 6YRs and White 4.75M x 6YRs.

Issue is likely that Brady wants a bridge deal like his brother where he can potentially be a UFA at age 25, while the Sens only want to sign him long-term until he's in his late 20s.

That's what has been reported, not penny pinching.
