Offering something that is so blatantly unattractive that you know somebody won’t take is not a legitimate offer. Post an item on Craigslist, you will understand what a ‘non legitimate’ offer is really quick.

Not sure what Tyler Boucher has to do with this convo.

lol,
To show Simpsons tweets aren’t that reliable.

Relax keyboard warriors. After signing Batherson long term, expect Ottawa to sign Brady to 6 or 7 years within a week.

I don't recall the exact rules so might not be possible anymore, but I could see 6-7 years on a heavily backloaded contract - then trade him in 3-4 years when you need to actually pay him

Fair enough, but it’s reasonable speculation when he didn’t sign the 6 year 42 million contract offer and you can see heavy similarities between his dad and brother.

Well lets call it a rumoured number, at best since it came from hockeybuzz

Where is the this 6 year 42 million contract offer coming from?

People always get riled up about RFAs but with players that don’t have arbitration eligibility there really isnt much of deadline. The closest thing to one is the start of training camp. We are still two weeks out from that date, there isn’t much incentive from either side to move all that much. As we get closer there’s more incentive and perhaps if it drags into training camp we can start asking questions about what is going on.

This negotiation dragging into September was so predictable and nothing to be concerned about yet.

As this guy said, hockeybuzz

I think you’re actually meeting me more than halfway with calling it a rumored #, I didn’t realize hockeybuzz broke it

Is this real inside info or some beat writer speculating?

Shawn Simpson has a spotty past in regards to tweeting rumours. He was the guy who “broke” Karlsson to TB. It hasn’t stopped him from throwing out rumours that aren’t verified by anyone else either. He obviously has sources given his past positions within the league but the way in which he verifies the rumours he has heard is questionable at best. At the end of the day, he is a local radio personality who wants attention and recently suggested he would be a great additional to the national TSN coverage. It’s pretty obvious where he wants to be and he doesn’t seem to care how he gets there.

I mean it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Sens won't get anywhere until Mely is long gone (which I guess probably will only happened when he dies).

Who knows if this guy is repeatable, but I’ll believe he signs long term in Ottawa when I see it. I am in the camp that firmly believes both Ktachuks end up in stlouis when they hit ufa respectively. Did you see Matthew sign a long term contract in Calgary? No, no you didn’t. What makes you think Brady will in Ottawa.

as one poster stated, these ktachuks will be singing the blues.

Is this Uncle Eugene holding things up again?
At least they got Batherson signed today, heck of a player too....
Brady's dad will probably have to head to Ottawa to beat the snot out of Dorion......old time hockey style!!

slightly off topic, but the raptors have had no problem attracting and retaining talent, and the stars in that league are outspoken divas.
The Raptors have never attracted top end FAs; not ever! And they have kept their guys buy paying them loads of cash.

Where did you get that from the tweet in the OP? If true, the fact that Brady is frustrated that it's taking so long would indicate he does want to stay in Ottawa.

Americans have this belief in exceptionalism to the point that they think everyone in world wants to live in the US. It's cute really.

The fact they have this much capspace and can't get a deal done is ridiculous.

Brady just needs to be patient and realize the Ottawa Senators are going to grind him down for every penny they can. There have been plenty of Senators players who have done more for Uncle Eugene's team and been treated worse.
