I had trouble sleeping last night thinking about the psychological distress that the NHL players must be living because the NHL teams dont want to give them all the money they are asking for . Lately we see agents leaking informations to the press because the negociation doesnt go fast enough or the bad NHL teams dont want to give them everthing they ask . We see reports of frustration coming from the players side and i'm having a hard time reading this. I often have to stay away from my PC because of the stress of the situation , having trouble breathing. Later on when i'm back to normal i feel sorry for the players having to face those evil onwers , idk how they are able to play after all they have to go through, i wouldnt be able to do it .

Couldn't disagree more. Would take the younger, bigger, more physical winger with a few less points any day.

Small scoring winger vs albatross power forward. Easy choice.

Would you have taken Lucic/Brown over a guy like Kucherov as well?

Impossible Lucic and Kucherov were different draft years, no idea which Brown your talking about.

What? I'm just commenting how one is a small scoring winger vs the other being albatross power forward types.

Should be an easy decision again?

It's taking long because his agent knows Tkachuk is a rare type of player in the NHL and he's trying to get the number fitting his skillset and need importance to the team and Melnyk is just cheap.

Dorion be like, I wanna pay you, but the boss is who it is.

Why aren't teams offer sheeting him?

Why would they? Speculation is that Tkachuk is mostly interested in a bridge deal, so what would be the point of offering him 3 years, 7M per or whatever? Ottawa would just match.

A 4 year offer sheet might put Ottawa in a bit of a bind as I doubt they want to walk him straight to UFA status, but they would still match and then just trade him 3 years down the road.

Then you have to consider what teams even have the picks to do it - Arizona, Buffalo, Dallas, Detroit, Minnesota, Montreal, Nashville, New Jersey and Seattle. Some of those teams are not going to want to punt off a high 1st or 2, and some don't have the cap space. I guess Carolina could do it if they don't get Kotkaniemi.

Tkachuk is almost 22 and played to a 52 point pace in his third season in the NHL. It's Kaprizov ainec.

Historicaly 21 year olds don't get better? Chances are far greater that a 50 game sample size does not reflect how a career will play out.

"almost 22" as in he was 21 the entire season. he doesnt turn 22 until september. trying to make him sound older than he is.

not saying he is better. but saying Kap is better than both by far is pretty dumb.
