I was pretty upset at this entire offseason management stuff but even I didn't see things going of the rails this fast. It was nice being a top regular season team at least, some on here about to learn an important lesson that there are worse things than being an elite team who can only make the 2nd round.... Like it being March and you are praying to even make the playoffs.

He’s 0-1 so far

Nylander better not get over 9, Matthews not over 13
Our GM does not have a lot of options we are left with scraps for this year.I don't get all this angst and blame towards him.

Not much left in the way of flexibility for the upcoming season.

It's early yet and things could change but we might just be an average team until we get more cap flexibility.

This summer, the team was left in such a state. I'm actually shocked there was anyone wanting to take the job on.

Was pretty disappointed with the draft and lack of moves at first but this team was left in shambles. No wonder Dubas wanted a Brinks truck to fix his mess.

Almost no picks and the pipeline is meh. Contracts are a mess. I'm willing to reserve judgement on BT until the contracts and free agency play out. Warming up to the Cowen pick after watching some tape. He's a gamer with room to grow I think.

I still laugh at the idiots wanting rid of Dubas

He did nothing good and accomplished zero. You would have smiled and happily paid Nylander 10m, I know how this works and when we don't win you blame Shanahan for some phantom nonsense.

We get it. List the pros and cons for everyone to critique if you are brave, also allow for our input and we can formulate a really comprehensive view of how crap he really was.

100 point seasons and guaranteed play offs every year, what a mess.

We don’t have to worry about play offs anymore at least.

If Murray isnt deal today is he going to be a 4.75M deadweight in cap?

He can barely give 20 games and has been ~.905 goalie the past 3 years.

Disgusting if we keep him. He needs to be dealt or worse case bought out when window opens
Murray / Sammy / Woll.....can only keep 2 of them so something has to give.

I wouldn’t be paying Nylander anywhere near 10m so let’s not tell lies. 100 point seasons and play offs were fun while they lasted. Back to the doldrums we go.

Dubas would. Look at his history and even his formulations would put Nylander around 10m. He has a history of overpaying for talent and now that he tactfully choreographed his departure he doesn't have to deal with this.

EDIT:

Expanding on my post.

Nylander has had just as many 30 goal seasons vs same age JT
Nylander has a 40 goal season that JT did not get in NYI
Nylander has 2 80pt seasons vs same age JT 2 80pt seasons

So really if you do all that and compare it to Mitch etc, sure 10million seems really fair in a Dubas type world.

Murray doesn't have any signing bonuses in his contract.

Sorry you’re right that was it. His salary however is 8 mill, while his cap is lower. Don’t know how much of that is retained by Ottawa, but he seems more like a buyout candidate. Eating 8 mill or whatever % of that Ottawa isn’t paying will be expensive

5 playoff wins. One round. Get real. Leafs under Dubas were a playoff laughing stock. Plenty of fans could care less about the regular season anymore.

Dubas moved every pick he could for one round win over an injured TB. Something has to give.

Not saying BT is the guy but deserves a chance. They might be a great team this year. We'll check in after next season.

Let's see how Dubas does in Pittsburgh now that the training wheels are off.

Oh I’ll give him a chance, sadly early signs look awful.

Like I said, no need to worry about playoffs any longer

You can look at the rest of the league for comparables but really, Dubas set an internal cap with a short term to UFA that was guaranteed to rise out of control.
