Brad Treliving is doing a great job.

Actually, Gregor beat out Lafferty for the avaliable job. That is what made Lafferty expendable. He was subsequently traded.
I can’t take the Dubists seriously, elevating MEH Lafferty to a key performer, but what you say is true. He was fighting for a job at camp, he knew Reaves was signed and he could see Gregor making a strong push. He was PURE SHIT in camp, he showed ZERO jam to fight for a job, which is WHY he was released. No amount of revisionism changes the fact he saw the landscape and did nothing about it, hence he’s gone.

If might continue for Days. Some holding the new GM's feet to the fire for Reaves, Lafferty and Klinkberg. The new GM has big shoes to fill. LOL.

Imagine being OK watching your team crap out in the first round year after year against opponents of literally any quality, crashing and burning in spectacular fashion after finally getting to the second round, but THIS is the line in the sand that pushes you over the edge as an (alleged) fan of the team:

It's simply not believable.

We need a name for people who worship Treliving and his failed time in Calgary...

Results don't matter for his trades? It is weird that the crowd who hates expected stats are now using expected return to show Treliving was not a mess.
No one is doing that. We can call the people who disagree with you and Dekes, Toronto Maple Leaf fans who are willing to give the new GM some time to make their mark on the roster.

You know its possible to think both Dubas and Tre are not amazing gms

Great gms are few and far between. But for some reason theres a select few that think criticizing dubas = praising Tre.
It's certainly one of the more bizarre lines of thinking.

It's bizarre that people who claim to want to stop talking about Lafferty keep talking about Lafferty, instead of just accepting the basic fact that Treliving made the bad decision to choose Reaves over Lafferty for 4th line RW, and move on to bigger discussion points.

I’d love to go back to the summer of 2022, recall Calgary scrambling to fill holes after players left. What was the commentary then here? I seem to remember massive praise heaped on Treliving here, and the entire hockey world for that matter, at how he was able to land a percieved stud in Huberdeau, a Kadri, people actually thought the Flames might be better. Now obviously, it’s been a mess there, but context matters, so does revisionism. Again, it’s overstated now how badly he messed up, when on paper he was a genius at the time for pivoting so quickly and turning lemons into lemonade. Not defending the guy, just having a memory.

Back to dumb people calling people simple….

Thankfully the resolve of the players seems strong and they'll be able to overcome the loss of Lafferty and the addition of those destructive influences.
The resolve is only strong because of the addition of Reaves, which is weird, because he is the reason Lafferty is gone…

Yet here you are...
Yes, here I am. I acknowledged the simple fact that Treliving made the bad decision to choose Reaves over Lafferty for 4th line RW from the start, and I've been ready to move on from this discussion for pages. Still waiting for some.

Context matters? That is a new one around these parts.

It seemed to be ignored quite often when anyone brought up the signings of players on our team... How the cap was dramatically going to rise without the pandemic is rarely brought up, but the "bad" signings are.

He constructed one of the worst teams in the league with one of the worst futures, you are defending his moves.

Is it results that matter or expected results?

You're all being idiots. Way too much burying of heads in the sand and forced narratives just to appear right

Some loved it. Others saw the term to aging players as an issue even before the Monahan + 1st for Kadri transition

I see a lot of people ignoring his time in Calgary and that mess... Dubas was a fresh GM and should be judged for his time here, which he failed, but at least he did not leave the mess that Treliving left in Calgary.

I'd say there are some fans of his and not the team since they seem to be excusing his bad transactions.

I still like his Domi/Bertuzzi moves, but outside of that, it's been a mess here too.

I still hope he puts together the best team possible, but right now he has made no changes and wasted cap, things that people were up in arms about before and now seem to be okay with, it is just an odd change considering the last GM would get crucified for some of these moves and this GM has more years of failure than that one.

Imagine the bandwidth that would have been saved had Gregor not been signed, Minten sent back to junior and Lafferty retained?

I'd bet anything there would be endless complaints that Treliving kept Lefferty.

The Gregor signing was good, but the Reaves signing was bad and forced Lafferty out... this isn't rocket science.

A 4th line of Gregor - Kampf - Lafferty probably banks us a couple more wins if we started the season with that.

I don't think many people care about Gregor, although he is an AHL level player and I think we gave better guys on the Marlies.

Nah, almost everyone loved it. I recall quite well. Who saw Huberdeau being such a disaster, I sure didn't. Looked a good replacement considering what walked out the door. Anyways, it is what it is now.
