Brad Treliving is doing a great job.

It's looking more and more like the reason he got the GM gig is because he told Shanny that the team just needs a few tweaks and he didn't have to ruin the Core 4 dream. I can't see any other GM getting hired after telling Shanny that this idea won't work with it being so top heavy. At this point I think we are going to have to start trading someone (prefer Marner) to get some balance. If AM can't score without Mitchy...he doesn't deserve his 13.5M deal either.

AM can score with just about anyone that is 1st or 2nd line capable or on his own for that matter. Nylander is the same. Marner is the odd man out because he relies on people to put the puck in the net mostly.

Firing Keefe now is going to be a bad look for Tre after just giving him an extension. Failure #1
Meh the extension was nothing more than a golden parachute. After the debacle of having a lame duck GM last year they weren’t doing it again with the coach.

Just here to get a vibe check on all those who were blowing Tre after the summer of Brad 2.0

Ironically this off season would have been the first since the 18-19 season that Dubas would have had significant amounts of cap space to work with.

Just hypothesizing here but:

- He probably brings back Accari and Lafferty given he traded for them. I think ROR never wanted to come back so he's gone either way.
- I don't think Klingberg is brought on board unless it was at a much lower number
- I think Matthews probably signs for the same deal.
- Nylander extension is probably done too.
- I think Marner was gonna be traded or at least put on the block, Dubas alluded to big changes coming up in his off season presser and Marner was the only guy we could have traded.
- Bertuzzi I think Dubas signs.
- Domi, not.
- I think we probably would have walked away from Kampf. Dubas walked away from a lot of bottom sixers over the years for better or for worse, Kampf wasn't anything special.

Draft plays out the same way IMO. Seems like the scouts that made the decision to draft Cowen were Dubas guys, not Treliving guys,
You forgot to mention he would have signed Samsonov to a 5 year/$27mil contract.

Dubas left a top tier team and golden situation and Treliving seems to have screwed it all up in one offseason. I hate it.

Best decision you'll ever make.
Man you are so clueless. He left a top tier team? He won 1 playoff round here

Ok so why do a 2 year and not a 1 year extension?

I understand that MLSE has unlimited funds however the rich don't get rich by throwing away money.

Kyle didn't set the bar high for Tre. Took Kyle 5 years to get over the bar Lou set.

Probably because a one year extension is very very obvious in its intent.

Gallant seems like he’d be a better fit with Treliving as GM. I don’t think the playing style or vision between Treliving and Keefe really line up.

This is true but it's still fine to criticize the moves we've already made. This was the first off season in 4 years where we had significant amounts of cap space and Treliving has wasted $16 million of it on Kampf, Reaves, Klingberg, Bertuzzi and Domi while playing hardball with our current leading scorer in Nylander. There's a very real chance now that we lose Nylander for nothing.

Nah, Reaves can be buried and Bertuzzi and Domi are off the books if it comes to that. Sure we can criticize, I'm just saying let this play out, it's obvious we haven't gelled yet. Klingberg was a risk and Kampf you had to resign, there were zero centers out there off season, that's on his predecessor imo. I'm not ready to jump off a cliff at all.

Well I don’t think any of those players will be returning so at the very least I don’t think signing Nylander should be a problem now. Man I wish we had a smarter GM but it is what it is

I get that Tre walked into a terrible situation but never thought I'd see the team log six losses under his stewardship.

I did want us to start making playoff calibrated decisions, and knew it could take as much as two years to right this ship, but not at the expense of losing four times in regulation.

This start is almost as bad as the last few years.

It's almost like evaluating team quality and GM performance is more complicated than just exclusively looking at how many playoff rounds were won with zero context.
Yes, he left a top tier team, whether you wish to acknowledge it or not. It's amazing how fast everything that's been built up has been set ablaze.

Not impressed.
Nothing he has done here moved the needle

I guess we are better of finding out now what is not working rather post trade deadline
He still has time to recover, good thing is most signees are 1 year contract except for Kampf

But so far his body work hasn't pan out.

But the lack of depth in this team is very concerning. Past top 4, we haven't had much contribution
