Brad Treliving is doing a great job.

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The Leafs previous regime also had issues with either trading for a banged up Matt Murray in net, requiring a full LTIR treatment this year or Jake Muzzin, who was hanging on by a thread. So seems like they could get better medical intel.
Don’t forget Folino, he was toast when they got him……..

Well, 1 great thing Brad did, he decided not to trade 1st round pick for Carter Hàrt!
Hart just screwed my fantasy hockey team, I’m currently in first, but that won’t last now that Hart had to step away from hockey……

Treliving's first year has largely been a swing and a miss at this point.

I was tough on Dubas but I will be tough on Treliving too, there are expectations.

We still need to trade for a goalie imo.

The gap on 9th place will become 100 points in a month. Stress level will be almost non-existent.

Suddenly playoffs hits and it's anxiety attack city and Sammy goes on another mental spiral. I'm happy for his little resurgence but we still have to put the team first and account for him possessing the trait of being one bad break away from throwing us under the bus.

Playoffs is beast mode time, and we witnessed the chaos that can follow if Sammy doesn't mentally have it. The playoffs separates the mentally weak from the strong almost every time. I'm not saying Sammy is going to implode, I'm just saying he has shown us he's capable of imploding at an extreme level. Not even just a slight implode, he will literally throw your season away if he gets in his head. For that reason I still prefer a new goalie if possible.

Good thing then that Woll is even better than Samsonov. The team's goaltending will be fine. What they need are two upgrades on defense, including a guy who can do what Klingberg was intended to do.

If you're gonna fire someone you need to find a better replacement.

That's not what happened here. Treliving is equally as bad a GM as Dubas. His grasp of talent evaluation appears limited to "This guy can skate and shoot the puck so he must be good".

Toss in a Domi or Bertuzzi last name, which means he's gritty too, and you have a perfect Treliving acquisition.

It's almost like he knows where he wants to go. But doesn't know how to get there. So he just does whatever he thinks will get him to his destination fastest.

Like visiting a friend in the hospital.

You can get there by driving yourself. Or you can slam your head against the wall and be driven by ambulance. Treliving is doing the latter.

I look forward to a day we have a management thread that isn't just people arguing over which Leafs GM crippled the team the most.

Do you honestly think Dubs is as bad s Treliving? Given the choice between the two, I think every team in the league takes Dubas over Treliving.

If Woll is back, you go with him to see if he can do it.

It's starting to look like this is a situation where the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

One of those "you don't know what you got 'til it's gone" type deals. Leafs fans were begging for Dubas to be run out of town. My guess is they weren't expecting Treliving to come in and do just as bad.

A potato could have done the same job for cheaper.

The one thing I liked about Dubas was his ability to change. I think he learned a lot while he was with the Leafs, he worked hard, and he realize his original ideas on building a team wouldn't work.

I think he’ll do well going forward.

wtf did Dubas do here other than take over a very good team on the upswing and spin it's wheels while burning through picks

the idiot left the team without it's next four 2nd rd picks as well as next years first yet people are still cheering him on like he's the second coming of Sam Pollock and i'm not even getting into the big ticket aged out players he left behind like Brodie and JT who are killing this team

it's truly unbelievable how far being a self promoting bs'er goes with some fans

and if you still think he's still some sort of genius then take a look at the summer of Dubas in Pitt to see how much he's learned from his past mistakes

hmmm first order of business...sign an aging star player with a 10 milly cap hit to play with the other aging stars ....yep looks like he learned a lot.

We’re going to look back and realize people argued about two GMs who are borderline bottom tier GM’s across the league. Leafs seem destined to fail with either guy in charge.

All of what you said may very well be true, but I was comparing him to Brad Treliving….

Dubas is much worse considering it takes a special kind of incompetence to f*** up the situation he walked into .

he lucks into the Pitt job because he found idiots who also believe their the smartest people in the room and he's repeating his same mistakes there

but hey who gives a f*** because he wears fake lens granny glasses and tries to pass himself off as a nerdy genius instead of the incompetent gutless whimp he is

And even with all those attributes, given the choice between the two, I think every team would take Dubas over Treliving.

based on what exactly and i'm saying this while being neutral on Tre and believing we'll have to wait and see on how he does the next 2 seasons

i really have no idea what people think Dubas accomplished in Toronto especially considering after over 4 and 1/2 seasons as GM he had to still try to reshape a large portion of the team by burning picks at last seasons t/d

basically Dubie's claim to fame is he rode a core someone else built to some regular season success , why some believe that should be applauded is beyond me

Who did he sign?
you're right it's worse , he actually traded a 1st and 2nd to acquire that cap hit , lol

Based on resumé and upside.

his resume says he failed and he's incompetent !

what has he done to make anyone believe he has upside ?
Do you think he was a better GM when he started his apprenticeship or when he left?

Again we are comparing him to Treliving, who not only took a phone call from Reaves’ agent, but actually signed him.
