He will leave after this season and have a bounce back wherever he goes. The question we have to ask is why these type of players come here and fade away during the season.

Trading for the D isn't the issue. We have the assets to make a trade if a good D in the 28-29 year range hits the market.

The issue is goalie scarcity. Both in no.1s available and the # of open no.1 spots. There aren't many no.1 goalies available, and there's also not enough no.1 goalie spots in the league for goalies to prove they're worth it.

The 100 suits we pay for in management need to pull some all nighters to ensure they guess right on the latter.

The good news is "guessing right" on a goalie is cheap and we still have assets to trade for a D

It is hard to believe someone from the Marlies wouldn't do just as well playing with Nylander as is Bertuzzi. Can you defend a little, skate well, and tap in some passes?

Can't dismiss the impact that the goalie situation has had either. The intended tandem has respectively spent time injured and on waivers. Meanwhile, the organizational depth option currently has the lead in both minutes and games played. None of that essentially follows the typical recipe for team success.
