nash i believe will have a breakout game tonight, the effort is there and he's getting a ton of chances
with last change tonight he will have more room and goals will come

but richards was a point per game guy, last year he played awesome in the playoffs, several clutch points

he looks like he's 40 out there now, at 33 i refuse to believe he has aged this much in only 1 year

if this team has any chance to go far richards is the one that needs to step up, he needs those clutch points he did last year

the bigger the game the better he plays, i just hope this starts to show but my god he looks bad out there, what happened

not to mention stepan can only do so much

maybe switch lines, nash/step/hags then clowe can play with richards

but sooner or later this guy needs to come up huge like last year, remember game 6 at ott, or game 5 vs caps

point is if rangers win this series or beyond this guy needs more moments like this, nash can only do so much

this entire team needs to step it up. Stepan has also looked invisible. Nash only had 3 good chances the 2nd game and was awful the 1st IMO.

Richards has underachieved all season. I gave him the benefit of the doubt with the shortened season and no TC but enough is enough. True stars step up when it matters. True leaders step up when it matters. And so far he has proven he is neither. Get rid of him and his cap hit and find a real center. I really hope I eat crow at the end of the playoffs but as of now I think he's done.

I was all for signing Richards and he has looked terrible all year. If he is still a NYR next season I'm hoping he steps it up big time. No less than 75-80 pts is acceptable.

Wow... just wow. Richards has always been the type to feed off of lowly teams. In that division I see him putting up 60-70pts at most if he stays healthy.

He was pretty weak last night, 2nd period play stood out in a negative way, threw that pass right up the middle in our zone, right to Green I believe, Hank came up big. 18 minutes is still too much for this guy.

Thankfully Torts finally gave first unit duty on the PP to Brassard, and oh look, he scores.

Though it won't happen, Richards needs to realistically be the 4th line center at this point. Any line he's on goes instantly cold. Plus he makes so many bad turnovers, at least they'd be limited by his 4th line minutes.

He is not a good 3c or 4c. He is weak on the puck and not very good defensively.

Richards took the opening face-off with Hagelin and Zuccarello on his wings. Zuccarello gets his 2 assists later in the game setting up Brassard with Boyle getting the other assist and passing to Nash seconds before the Stepan goal. Richards is holding Zuccarello back. As with Nash-as with Gaborik--as with Callahan there's something missing in the chemistry department these days when Richards is centering any of them. I don't know how it happened but Richards has reincarnated himself as Chris Drury. He's not getting anything done and when he's on the ice we're not getting very many good chances.

He was a ghost last night, then again so was most of our perceived top 6 forwards.

Boyle, Brassard, Zuccarello, and Asham saved this team's bacon

Time to buy him out and move onto the next big UFA center! Paul Stastny anyone?

Pass. Just buy him out and let a young guy take over as 3c. Miller? Lindberg? Sign a legitimate 4th line center like Lapierre who can PK and stir the pot as well. I would also re-sign Clowe.

Retaining Richards and hoping he can improve (with the ability/likelihood of buying him out in 2014) will be a better investment than handing Clowe - a guy who cant even get on the ice - a 3 or 4 year deal.

it remains to be seen if management let's him go this summer, most likely next imo. We really need him right now if we're going to get out of this series and make a run.

Richards needs to be bought out this summer. Cannot take a chance of him getting hurt next season.

If hes the 4C?

Why???

He'd be an optimal 4C, IMO. He's struggling as a 3C due to lack of offensive touch, but putting him on the 4th line and giving him prime PK minutes is a role he can really excel in.

Why not play him on the wing, where he can simplify his game and let him take face-offs? He thrives blocking shots. That's a wingers job. Then if a center goes down, you have 5 C's on the roster. Makes more sense.

He can't distribute the puck at all.
