Sucks that Brad is traded, but I think the total returns on all players moved exceeded my expectations. See where Marchand ends up this summer. Plus we get to cheer for former Bruins who have legit chances to win the Cup. & DS has removed some personal guilt for me...lol

Brad is so competitive, hockey careers are short. Can't blame him but will not be cheering Florida. It must be crushing to realize your career is almost over. We saw it with Big Zee. Bergy is the exception, he balanced his hockey and personal life. Brad worries me with the beatings he takes, we don't even know what his current injury is.

Honestly the only reason they went to these teams is bc they wouldn't waive for a better Western team and had them on the NTC. We take a similar or slightly lesser offer from Calgary 10/10 times if we could.

Gotta be honest, the name is clouding some judgement on the Marchand trade.

He's an injured 36 year old rental with a NTC. A conditional 1st is a good return
Nick Foligno, Paul Gaustad. These types have received 1sts in the same year draft in recent years!

A 3 years away conditional 1st is not much value.

Luke Schenn received an earlier 2nd and a 4th.

The injury piece and what Marchand does in the summer will dictate if this is a reasonable trade or not. If he signs a 3 year 3 million extension tomorrow... not good.

Guess it is all about what the conditions are.
My complete guess is the condition is he plays in 50% or more of their playoff games, maybe also at least getting to the 2nd round. Injury hurt his return for sure.

A big part of me believes he'll be back July 1. If we extended him, I really doubt we'd rush him back before the end of the season with the white flag already being waved. This at least gives him a shot this year and gets some assets, from a division rival as well. But we'll see - sometimes the grass (and money) is greener. I'm sure he'll end his career as a Bruin one way or another.

Dale Arnold said he doubts Marchand ever plays for Bruins again if I heard correctly but he likely is guessing same as we are.

All 3 were younger, not out injured and didn't have NTCs. Those are significant factors in his value

More likely than not that Dale's right. Doesn't happen often.

If I were him, I wouldn't come back to a rebuilding team when you could ride out your career being a support piece and leader on a contender. But they're people too, and who knows what he wants. Up to him.
