First of all, that’s a big if. Second: Because he’s Brad Marchand.I mean it’s better to trade him isn’t it? If he wasn’t going to play another game for the Bruins this season why hang onto him
Big timeI love Brad and it sucks he is gone, but bigger than that, it sure looks like there was a leadership/culture cleanout here.
I would have been completely happy with keeping him for nothing. A 2nd is such a pitiful return for such a symbolic trade...It should have been more I agree but the Bruins weren’t really dealing with a position of strength. Marchand likely wasn’t coming back until the playoffs and the Bruins aren’t making the playoffs. He was really only beneficial to teams like Florida.
Much neededI love Brad and it sucks he is gone, but bigger than that, it sure looks like there was a leadership/culture cleanout here.
Good points.why? You think a guy who is long past his prime, just had 3 surgeries and is 36/37 is worth more than a shut down, RHD with a great contract? Not me, I want another first for Marchand, not so sure he`ll bring in more than Carlo
Picks conditions can’t be about the player resigning anymore. If there’s a legitimate path to it becoming a 1st, I am all for it. If it is something stupid like they have to win the Cup or he has to resign, then it was meh.
Trust me: we’ll still be hurting for high-end talent in the system in 3 years.
I guess a 2nd (cond. 1st) is all the return is.
Absolutely brutal.
Sweeney did great on the other deals but this Marchand return is completely sours the whole day. Trading away one of the franchise's greats for a pathetic return, and to one of your top 2 rivals.
200 BillionWhat is our cap space now?
If any return is underwhelming its the Carlo return, RD are hard to find, he's signed for 2 more years at a great price. He's exactly what they need, stay at home D, and he will play in the same division as us, we should have held out for more.
