Harry, is that you?
Haha...no, not at all.
Just a realistic Don Sweeney.
Harry, is that you?
Paying Brad anything over Bergeron is a huge mistake. Sweeney better be careful on this one.
Not necessarily.
Bergy signed his deal 3 years ago. The market, salary cap, etc have all changed significantly since then. You can't look at it the same way you would if they were both signing deals at the same time. Lesser players than Bergy have signed and will continue to sign for more $ than Bergy simply because of timing. Same in any other sport. The best don't always make the most.
I get that, but still think Brad is not a 7 million dollar player.
8 x 6.5 would be ideal.

For who...Brad?
I don't want Marchand signed for 8 years. I hardly want anyone for 8 years at this point...maybe Doughty or Karlsson. But a 36 year old Marchand would scare me at $6.5m.
In 2014 maybe.
Cap has risen, salaries have risen, marketplace has changed.
Not sure they can justify paying Marchand 31% less than Benn.
I say get it done.
Genuinely thought the initial ask would be higher. That'd be a good deal.

Not bad.
Work a deal and lock him up.
27 mil on 4 core forwards for the next 5 years is going to require a lot of kids stepping up (and maybe out if their turn to strike a deal comes too quick).
Krejci
Bergeron
Marchand
Backes
A lot to like in that group
I much prefer 6 years, and I think $6.5/yr is ideal.
