I think Bergeron is to much of a pro to let it bother him. He understands that the bottom line is THE CUP and that team building starts with the D.

While true, people close to the organization have made comments that management would likely weigh Bergeron's opinion on trading Marchand very heavily, and apparently he is completely opposed to them trading Brad. Bergeron very much enjoys playing with him.

I can't see Sweeney trading him. Obviously if some fantastic offer for a defenseman comes about, everyone is available for the right price. However Sweeney knows he has the fan base on edge what with losing Dougie and Looch and missing the playoffs. Also he and Bergeron are the only players who consistently put up points and neither have missed significant injury time recently.

6x6 is my hope.

I think Bergy would be pissed. No way it wouldn't bother him. He would not say that to the public but IMO he would NOT be happy.

A bunch of them were pissed about Looch.

 I'm not joking... I've had actual nightmares.

Marchand, Bergy and Looch all on the Habs.

My wife woke me up saying I was breathing really erratically and appeared to be in a lot of distress.

I was worried about Looch on the Habs. I guess he made a comment that he couldn't picture himself wearing the Hab's jersey.

Not what he said at all. He did an interview on TSN just after signing with the Oilers saying he and his family had given serious consideration to Montreal. He sited the west coast guys (Weber,Price,Gallager, etc ) playing for the Habs as his motivation. He even laughed off the awkwardness him wearing a Habs jersey would cause.

If they didn't sign Backes I could have seen them squeeze marchand in at under 6 but I fully expect 6-6.25 now, hopefully no more. Definitely go for atleast 6 years

He would have gotten over 6 anyway. Look at the UFA market this summer. Okposo, Ladd, Loui, Backes, Lucic, all got 6. Marchand is a better player than all of them.

I wouldn't hesitate and give him the 6.875M Bergy Cap hit for the next 6 years.

This exactly. Let them play out the string on the same exact contract. Hopefully forming an even closer bond, at the end of the contract the gift the Bruins with a couple of sweetheart deals to stick around and retire in Black and Gold. I love it :naughty::D:laugh:

I have no doubt the deal will get done. Hopefully he agrees to something in the ballpark of 6x6.0-6.5, but if it's a bit higher then whatever. I think I would get physically ill seeing Brad in another jersey.

I'd go 6/40 and offer to pay to have his tattoo after the Cup fixed

If I'm the Marchand camp, I would see no reason to accept a contract that was significantly less than what Krejci is getting.

I don't know about the years (I would guess between 6 and 8), but me thinks his AAV begins with a number 7.

I dont think so. It will be put to him in the 6s and it will be said in order to bring in a stud Dman to take over from Chara we need cap flexibility, whatever money that can be agreed upon around figure X would help us get towards a cup. I know hockey players aren't dumb and its their big time contract, but I don't think Marshy is the type to demand the biggest contract on the team that will disadvantage Boston from getting to a cup earlier. I can see him signing for between 6 and 6.5. I don't think he get's a 7.

Taking all that into account though, we as humans are greedy by nature, and money thrown into the fact makes people think differently. We'll see, but I am confident it will be below 7. I don't think he gets Tarasenko money.

"Marchand is nearly as good as Benn. By any rational standard, he should be at least an $8.5 million player if Benn is a $9.5 million guy"
