It was too much offense for Clode, is Marchand's 37 goals the highest for a player with Clode?

I think it was more of Stempniaks arrival than Connollys play. He actually was playing some of his best hockey of the year before LS arrived.

Agree, I wouldn't mind seeing Stemniak being resigned if the price is right, say 2 mil. for 2 years.

30 Goal scorers under Julien:

15/16 Marchand - 37
08/09 Kessel - 36
15/16 Bergeron - 32
06/07 Parise - 31
02/03 Zednik - 31
13/14 Bergeron - 30
15/16 Eriksson - 30
13/14 Iginla - 30
10/11 Lucic - 30
05/06 Ryder - 30

10 in 12 seasons if you don't count the 12/13 lockout year where it was near impossible to net 30 unless your name is Ovechkin.

Yeah. let's move the best scorer this team has had since they moved Seguin! And Seguin was the best goal scorer they'd had sicne they dumped Kessel! Hopefully, they'll get a similar return because that's been a real win win trade for them! They can easily do this too because Frank Vatrano is clearly going to break out and score 35+ goals next year!! I just know it!!

Or promise Koko his spot to get him back here from Russia. Because he's the next superstar, he's just being held back by Clod! I just know it!

I wonder if this is the real reason we're not allowed to have nice things in Boston. Because as soon as they become what we want, the fans can't wait to ship them out.

I just hope both Bergeron and Marchand can be key contributors on a deep playoff run again before they retire . How I miss the glory days :shakehead.

I certainly think this is part of it. Fans here love them some grinders as long as the grinder hits and is willing to fight. If a skill guy is only a skill guy though, he brings nothing of interest to the table for them. And sadly, management seems to be on board with this belief as well.

Trade Marchand??? Why not add to the list...
Thornton
Kessel
Seguin
Marchand

Very Boston of some of you

Some of us? It was floated by one poster that Marchand isn't 100% immovable if the right return is there (whether that return is Pietrangelo or not could be argued...), and it's already been shot down by several posters using the same points as you brought up.

Oh, and MMB/LSC: Seguin hadn't exactly become what we wanted when people wanted (and got) him traded, can't know for sure he would have either. Trading him when his value was low is a valid point, but the return wouldn't even have been particularly bad if the main piece hadn't received two brain injuries because of suspendable offences. Hindsight and all that.

He was 21, ffs. He was nowhere close to being a finished product at that point. It was a reactionary move and stupid on the part of this moronic front office. And yet some people still justify it as if it's not one of the worst trades of the last 20 years. It was. And it's not that they moved him either. It's that they rushed to move him and got back a really crappy return. Which again speaks to how reactionary the move was and how it wasn't smart. Yet most of the idiots involved in that move are still there. How does that sound to you? Does that instill confidence for the future?

I think McDavid is proof of how damaging Marshy could be with a really skilled centre, of course that means he'd part with Bergy for another which ruins our shut down line (im not advocating for that) but imagine the possibilities.

There aren't many centers in the league better than Bergeron... and their chemistry is probably among the tops in the league as well.

37 goals is pretty damaging.

Agreed; Bergeron / Marchand might not sound as sexy as Seguin/Benn , but I'd rather have those 2 guys in key situations then anyone else.

Yea, I wish I could agree with you on this but Seguin/Benn is the best duo in the league.

jumping across town to BaseballLand for a moment:

how many wanted to trade Xander or JBJ? and 2 years ago all the beat guys were saying how Mookie wasn't ready and blah blah blah. Yeah the Sawx were bad...really bad...for 2 years but now are reaping the benefits of a.) keeping their high upside prospects and b.) playing them despite mistakes and slumps. Imagine if they traded Xander to another team and he was doing his thing there this year?

Bruins management should look at their baseball compatriots and learn from them.

edit: well my post still fits in reply to MMB, but uh....this was not the topic i thought it was...>.>

Totally botched trade. Then a botched Hamilton return.

Exactly. Two years running with no playoffs, and two years running with painting Peter Chiarelli as the scapegoat. I wonder who they'll blame after next season when they miss again, are on the verge of Marchand becoming vapor, and on the hook long term at high dollars with Loui, just so they can say they still have an asset from the Seguin deal.

I love Marchand. I don't want to trade him.

But come on, if you could trade him for a legitimate #1 defenseman who is 2 years younger than him, and is locked up longterm to a great contract you'd have to be insane to be opposed to that. Of course I am not buying that STL would deal Pietrangelo
