It’s only 3-0 who cares
He’s a good goalie, and seems like has a mentality to be successful so he should be solid for the Bs. one argument could be that this can be a steal down the road. But it also has potential to be a very very toxic situation if he falters. This one went very public so he’s going to be under the microscope from management and fans.

Good on swayman for holding strong.

Neely and Sweeney look like amateurs.

Held so strongly that he dropped his stance of setting the market at McAvoy money and settled for a compromise much closer to fair payment.

If anyone, his agent is the amateur.

So many label every contract overpay or a bargain.

Add this to the list of fair value. Win win. Added win because of the angst it causes rival fans.

The Bruins beat TOR with Charlie Coyle and Pavel Zacha as their top 2 centers. If you don't think Elias Lindholm helps the Bruins at C next to Pastrnak...I don't know what to tell you.

Zadorov replaces freaking Matt Grzelcyk next to McAvoy...and in a worst case scenario as a #5D replacing Parker Wotherspoon.

So I am not sure how anyone can say the Bruins are worse with these additions. Cap wise, they will be fine too.

Let's see in 2 years. I suspect those deals are ugly

I do think everyone that signs a contract to play a pro sport in Boston is well aware of the way things go good or bad in that market.

It only went very public because it’s the Bruins, he’s going to be under a microscope because it’s the Bruins, these threads go on and on and on because it’s the Bruins. Bruins, Bruins, Bruins, a tale as old as time.

Sure, if you are talking about the other BOS sports franchises...but I can't think of any other Bruins contract negotiation that has come close to the allure of this one. Krug? Meh. Sweeney was right to walk away on that one.

Its far from fair value he has 132 games play in the NHl

has never been starting golatender

also plays in front of one of the best defenses in the league

no cup, no veznia

How is 8 million for a goalie with this track record a steal?

f*** Skinner in Edmonton has a more proven track record he at least made the finals, is he getting 8 million?

Literally his career accomplishment so far is beating the Leafs in the first round, you can't seriously tell me his agent is on the phone saying "well my client beat the leafs" f***ing Garth Snow could come out retirement, go in net for the Sharks and beat the leafs in the first round there ass.

Pretty much everything you said applied to Rask before Bruins gave him 7Mx8 years. He had played only 138 games, mostly behind Thomas. Behind one of the best defenses in the league etc.

Must be a Toronto fan......

Only thing to look forward to is always two years away...

'So what your saying is, everyday is worse than the day before. So today is worse than yestetday, and torrow will be worse than today....'

I’m sure he feels the same about the 28 year old Nylander’s deal as he does the 29 year old Lindholm’s deal.

I think any goaltender contract that is signed before Shesterkin resets the market is going to look like a bargain in years to come—Swayman, Saros, Hellebuyck, Sorokin, etc.

That next wave of goalies due to be re-signed after Shesterkin’s extension are going to get what feel like outsized deals by comparison—Demko, Oettinger, Hill, etc.
Saros already looks like a steal. I have no idea how he only got that much lol. Multiple years as one of the best and had a vezina case at least one season

Glad to see this resolved. It's a massive commitment to make to a goalie with a career high of 44 appearances, however I'm not doubting his talent.
imo the only alternative would be signing him to a short prove it deal, after which he woulda cost even more lol

With Swaymans talent and potential, imo he would have been crazy to sign a small deal knowing what top goalies can get.

Cap is going up term is fine locks him up for his prime but will he be able to be an elite starter and steal games that's territory of a guy a sports at least a a .920s% year in year out I think he could but only time will tell

Correct me if I’m wrong, but weren’t the B’s offering 8x8 and Sway wanted over 9….this sounds more like a win for the B’s more than Sway.

The term is what would worry me… if he doesn’t live up to this, moving him will be impossible

That’s always the case with goalies though.

Boston has a very good track record with nets because of Bob Essensa

Swayman has proved he is an elite tender and the odds of him declining aren’t likely, Boston is more up against it for scoring depth, which also makes his value go up

He might be overpaid by about 1.5 million now, but that contract will be very fair in about a year and he’ll be underpaid about half way in. Huge win for the B’s and for swayman’s bank account

Also, it’s bonus structured, he needs to perform to hit those number averages

Completely different tiers of players. Guys like Nylander don't fall off cliffs at 30 nearly as often
Does it even matter? Matthews 27 yo, Marner 27, Nylander 28, Tavares 34. The fab four (well, fab 3 really) core approaching 30 years of age… Matthews and Marner played 8 seasons with Toronto already, Nylander 9… And all they have to show for it is one lousy playoffs series victory. One. And never mind 57 years of Cup drought. Don’t you have bigger problems than trying to have fun at the expense of Bruins fans in the Swayman thread?

Gawd there’s an awful comparison everyone can see Swayman is arguably the best up and coming goalies in his age group, I never once thought that about Cal..

Barring a stupid injury I feel confident saying this contract will only get better in the years ahead..

Ya we got bullied into signing arguably a franchise goalie shame on us

He def would have got at least $9m if he waited a little longer lol

Boston will have to start him 70 games by the look of it 😂
