Our franchise will not accomplish anything with this albatross deal on the books. We're paying top 5% NHL goalie price for the worst goalie in the league. For 8 years. This was quite literally a franchise destroying signing.

I don't think the contract will go for 8 years if it is that bad. I suspect he will rebound to at least an average starter who is overpaid and likely has a year or two during the deal he is well worth the money. Look at Bob with the Panthers who was seen as a stud and franchise crippling depending on the year of the deal.

If Swayman really falls off the earth, a buyout starting year 3 wouldn't be a huge deal. You would be 3-4AAV cap hit at worst. There's also the chance he rebounds and the Bruins rebuild and is traded to another team with retention like Markstrom just was.

Huge risk giving out that massive contract to a guy who never proved he could carry the load of a #1. Sw8man has an inflated ego and drank the cool aid his agent gave him, but the bruins probably should have traded him instead of giving that albatross.

I think he'll bounce back. Ullmark has gotten it together after the injury and rough start.

His numbers haven't been great, but he was trending up a bit already. They had just won 5 of 6/8 of 10 and 4 in a row before the 8-1 game. That game brought his save % from .893 to .885. A few strong games and he'll be back around .900.
