Confirmed Signing with Link: [BOS] G Jeremy Swayman signs extension with the Bruins (8 years, $8.25M AAV)

Give Swayman 70 starts this year and see how he handles the workload. He's young and fit and should be able to handle it right away. I think he makes the All Star game again this year.

Looking like those of us who thought that contract was idiotic in term and money, given Swayman's resume, might have been on to something.

Gaping 5 hole and poor positioning have been issues for him. Both demonstrated last night against the Stars. Korpisalo has been marginally better. Let that sink in. Maybe Swayman misses hugs.

Swayman took business classes at Maine. Sweeney is a Harvard man. Chalk one up for University of Maine, at least for the next 8 years. I guess Sweeney gets a consolation prize for not letting an unproven goalie "set the market" and receive $10M per.

I haven't been following Swayman this year, so can't speak to his play. Though, anytime I've seen him play vs Toronto, I never perceived him to be an elite goalie by watching his play/style/skill.
 
Pretty sure I posted early in this thread that the contract will age poorly. I do believe that.

However, his rough start this year really doesn’t mean anything in the grand scheme of things. I do not like paying goalies big $/term as they are voodoo and susceptible to really bad play no matter how talented they are. But Swayman will bounce back. How many wrote off Bob in his first year on the huge contract FL gave him?

Bob is the problem. He's been great for the last two years, no doubt. But him winning the Cup has sent these monkey see, monkey do GMs into a tail spin. How is Swayman worth near as much as Hellebuyck? Shesterkin has lost his mind and the Rangers will probably fold like a cheap tent to his demands.

Funny how fast things changed from when Hill won the Cup with Vegas and all the GMs thought they could win with any pile of pads in goal.

This too shall pass . I think missing training camp is a big reason for the sluggish start . I think he’s a good goalie and will bounce back to form sooner rather then later

not gonna defend the contract but it seems a bit short sighted to declare him one of the worst goalies in the league based on a ten game sample size after missing training camp
