please, go ahead list the other players that have accomplished what laine has done at 21...

Well -Austin Mathews and Mitch Marner came out of the same draft year as Laine, and both would skate circles around Laine. Mathews is likely going to score 45-50 goals this year, and is right on pace. If Marner never got injured he would be to.

There's lots of other guys as well -- guys like Barzal and others. Laine is a decent playmaker, good goal scorer -- but his skating and speed are not good at all --and sometimes his hustle.

In my opinion he's not in the same league right now -as those guys.

Quick thoughts...
81-55-29 Connor with a great game, torturing the Bruins for passing on him 3 times in the draft. Scheifele was good, too. Laine just looked like he had no legs.

27-26-9 Not a great game. Copp was better. Ehlers was peripheral. Wheeler want at the top of his game. Fatigue was an issue.

85-17-28 You'd think giving Lowry a couple of quick and talented wingers would work better, but Perreault was incredibly bad again. He deserved being relegated to the 4th line. Bourque isn't much better, but he was at least trying.

57-21-82 Nice game from Appleton. Shore was okay. Bourque is just a filler type.

44-3 This pairing just has to be better. They had bad positioning and spacing. They can both be good, but maybe just need different partners. I would try Pionk with Morrissey and Poolman with Kulikov.

5-4 Sbisa is just awful. Pionk was again called on to salvage this pair.

2-7 Kulikov was okay. He adds a bit of aggressiveness. Bitetto just isn't good enough.

Brossoit was mediocre. He had a lot of shots, but also didn't seem sharp.

You know pasta missed 16 games... What's their ppg look like over the same time period?

Laine deserves a bit of slack tonight. Everyone was kind of below average to average, except KC. Think he's more of the anomaly after 3 in 4
I think Laine played 14 more. But for real perspective see what Pasta did by age 21.

Barzal and Marner were 2015.

Sbisa and Bitteto shouldn’t make this lineup come playoffs.
Jmo Buff
Kuli Pionk
Beaulieu Poolman
Niku, Samberg, Sbisa, Bitteto

Here is hoping

Laine was advertised to be a big star --right up there with Mathews, but really he's just an average player, with an above average shot. Hopefully he'll keep working on his skating and be a dominating player, but right now, he's just not that. We have to rely on Sceif, Wheeler, Connor and Ehlers to pull games out for us.

Laine was most explosive his first year in the league. The Jets have de-developed his offensive abilities in their attempts to round out his game.

Maybe . . .
Or he's finding it tough to play a two way game considering the energy it takes to do so.
I think he's a bit tired and back to backs don't work well with him.

No reason he shouldn't be scoring - his shot doesn't seem to be where it was, not necessarily his chances.
Misses the net more and many that are on target don't have the zip they used to -
The opportunities are there although not so much tonight.
Hard to put you finger on the issue but it looks like his shooting is off more than anything - IMO.

I've also noticed it seems like Connor literally never passes to Laine. Like never. Perhaps they're just not the same style of player??? Or they don't like each other a whole lot. Lol

If Connor get the opportunity to shoot, he takes it.
Laine should do the same -
We need more pucks on net by our best shooters

First, Connor finds Laine a lot. Second, nobody would have found Laine open tonight because he was moving like he had lead in his skates. He wasn't finding any open space.

I like where his two way game is headed. Not there yet but far better. He’s rounding out into a nice player. He wasn’t good tonight, but a lot of guys looked like they had no legs.
Yes but good isn’t good enough. He is supposed to be a superstar and is more in line with Ehlers and Connor. That’s gotta be a bit of a disppointment.

Winnable game, in the end a bad line change and a lost face off in their end cost them the game. But, they are close to putting things together. Just need another top 6 centre and top 4 D.

Earlier this year I'd agree with you but Laine wasn't doing any favors to get open tonight. KC was great tonight with the puck on his stick, Laine not so much.
