I don't really want to go the revenge route unless we are getting pummeled on the scoreboard. Punishing Spurgeon every time he touches the puck is all I want to see.
I wouldn't mind seeing Walker challenge him to a fight either though. He is the same height so he could beat him up without it looking like he's fighting a kid.

Then again, I just looked it up and Spurgeon has never fought in his career so I doubt he would accept the invitation. Therefore we do just need to make life really hard on him this series.

My thoughts...

Its the appropriate penalty for the playoffs if the refs are going to ref the way I want them to.

Overall I would rate the officiating in last nights game very poorly and took at as indication that the league/refs are trying to protect the players. Unfortunately there was quite a few calls/non calls I did not agree with. Parayko and Jost got very weak matching minors. Barbashev had at least one questionable/terrible call against him. They missed a blatant delay of game. I really thought Spurgeon would get a game based off that. To add to it Kyle Clifford gets an in person for an equally as dangerous play. While i know priors have always had an influence in these situations. Prior infractions should not be a basis for punishments during the playoffs when it is the most meaningful time for players to be healthy. Standards should be different when the games mean more.

At least they got the W where it matters.

Well thank god he's not happy with himself. That makes his actions acceptable.

Definitely doesn't make it acceptable, but everyone knows he's not that kind of player and at least he's admitting fault. I can't help but think that one reason Spurgeon didn't get a suspension was the fact that Buchy shrugged it off and wasn't injured at all. Not the way it should be, but there would be a lot more pressure on them to suspend him if Buchy was seriously hurt.

I don't think the Blues should be worried about getting any retribution on him, they just need to keep playing their game and frustrating the Wild players by outplaying them. The refs were pretty bad overall, but if we keep taking needless penalties it's gonna burn us.

Not much to complain about after a 4-0 win, but we're gonna need more offensively from the Thomas line. Tarasenko was barely noticeable and there were a lot of cross-ice passes that got broken up. Clearly the Wild game planned for our quick cross-ice passing and mostly neutralized our offense 5-on-5. Schenn's line was pretty quiet as well, and I was surprised to see Barby get less than 10 minutes of ice time. Those guys will have to step it up if we want to head home up 2-0.

I know you address this in your post, and you are absolutely correct, but it's insane that had Buch's Achilles ruptured, or his ankle snapped, he probably gets multiple games. It just so happened Buch was able to get up and skate away, so just a fine. So ridiculous.

But anyway, I wouldn't worry about going after Spurgeon or anything. Hit him (and the other Wild dmen) on the forecheck and keep making them pay on the PP. That's the best way to get even.

I went into the series assuming they can shut down one Blues line with a concerted effort from their best defensive forwards. They are choosing the Thomas line at the outset.

I said yesterday if I were Minnesota I'd go against what the numbers say to do and I'd target the ROR line with GREEF because I trust GREEF the most and that ROR line looks ready to dominate to me. Assuming I can understand what ROR line is about to do to me, I hope to blunt them with GREEF, as that neutralizes the biggest threat. I'd feed the Thomas line to the Kaprizov line and ask my best player to perform his best. Kyrou and Barbashev will cough the puck up no matter who they play against and I'd ask Fiala and Boldy to outplay them.

But Minnesota decided they wanted to intimidate and target Buchnevich and Tarasenko and grind that line into ineffectiveness as the opening move, and you're seeing why Evason has zero series wins in his coaching career across the board.

Minnesota doesn't have any good options. Now the ROR line is off to a dominant start.

I have no hate for Spurgeon tbh, he’s absolutely not that kind of player and obviously made a huge mistake in a frustrating situation.

No injury, he got a fine, I’m over it

However, as captain, he should try to keep his lunatics (Greenway and Foligno) in check

I don’t think our 5 on 5 play was that great. We are lucky Husso was great. I’d like to see more zone time

Husso played such a calm, controlled game for his first playoff appearance. It bodes well since he must be strong as hell if the Blues want to reach the final four

This is such bullshit. We literally just saw what type of player he is and you want to try to defend him. He literally f***ing did it.

This is basically the same as if ROR did it.

It’s uncharacteristic, of course he did it and it was a gross play, but that doesn’t make him a dirty player.

He will now forever be someone that when they get angry may try to injure someone and end their season. That's who he is and in fact that's probably always who he was but he was never pushed to the breaking point like this before. I'm almost positive ROR has been pushed a lot harder than Spurgeon was and he didn't try to injure anyone.
