Just wanting others opinions, but I was wondering, is Provonov really better then Krug. To me Krug is a number 3 dman, and a true offensive PP master, who isn’t terrible in his own end. To me he is a better dman than Shatty.

I don’t watch Phili, but are we shuffling the deck a bit with moving him for Provonov. The fact Phili is willing to move on from him raises some questions. He was a -20 last yea playing 24 minutes per night. But I didn’t do much of a deep dive into him dive stat wise And I don’t watch Phili.

would we be better off trading Tarasenko for futures and just resigning Leddy? how would we have done with Krug and Leddy in the line up in the playoffs. Moving on from Scandella and Barby would get us there.

Also, who are the real suitors for Tarasenko? NYR don’t have the need or money. NYI, beyond Raty I don’t see much there unless Romanov was a chess move. Same with NYI,

Carolina, about the only piece I would want would be Morrow, but I doubt he is available. and I am not sure he would be ready for another year. No real interest in Necas, who is way more of a playmaker.
My two cents:
I view Provorov as a different class of defenseman than Krug. Krug is a #1 on offense and a #4 on defense. Provorov is a #2 on both offense & defense...he’s a true top pairing all situations defender. I think Provorov would flourish with a solid partner like Parayko.

Provorov would also likely benefit from no longer being THE guy. I think he's suffered some of the issues that Parayko has, where he's still a really good player, but early success led to too high of expectations and less than ideal partners have highlighted some of their weaknesses, but when paired with the right partner, they look like that stud that they've always been.

I'll trust Army and co on determining if he's a good fit here and if the cap structure fits.

Couldn't agree more. locker room atmosphere and team dynamic/success & coaching can play a big role in that as well.

Provorov in STL imo would become a household name and a top20-30 D in the league (depending on how you'd rank who and why lol)

Provorov-Faulk
Krug-Parayko

or

Provorov-Parayko
Krug-Faulk

would be an absolutely elite and cup contending D-core

If Perron is gonna walk anyway, then how about we sign him and then trade him? That way he will never have signed a contract with another team!!

yeah yeah…..I know

Admittedly I haven’t watched provorov closely the last couple of seasons. But boy was he outstanding his first couple of seasons when the Flyers were good. If we prefer a shutdown pair, old Provorov and Parayko would be top notch.

I am ignorant to him lately though so if it was a target I hope he’s someone that can exit the zone at the least because Parayko doesn’t seem to be all to great at it unless he skates the puck. I think that’s why Leddy looked good with him. My worry with Leddy if he’s an option going forward is that it’s a flash in the pan with Parayko like Scandella was.

I feel like we are going to see more Blues movement a day or two after free agency begins. Many of the teams speculated to be in on Tarasenko are also eyeing Gaudreau. I feel like the others will circle back to us once he is off the market.

Damn, I'm good. I am just hoping that Perron will give us a day or two before he accepts any incoming offers. Because if we trade Vladi I absolutely want us to sign Perron.

This is the thing that kind of worries me about this offseason. We may be stuck not able to sign Perron right away because we're waiting for clarity on Tarasenko, but that means Perron could end up signing elsewhere because we're stuck waiting on Gaudreau and other dominos to fall.

I'm sure Armstrong and company will maintain communication with someone like Perron to avoid something like that happening, but I still worry we could lose the game of musical chairs. I suppose I also have a little trepidation due to what allegedly happened with Pietrangelo where Armstrong inked Krug without letting Petro's camp know the Blues may be moving on.

And I'm also worried that Perron may simply be out of the price range. This is his last chance to sign a bigger deal and the best opportunity he's had to sign one since his recent performance is the best of his career and even if he gives us a bit of a hometown discount that may price him out of our range, which would be a shame, but I won't blame him if it happens.

If Perron walks, would we really trade Tarasenko? That timeline could fall flat. Perron and Johny become FAs at the same time. If the Isles lose out, especially if it takes days instead of hours, by then Perron may have moved on and we have little incentive to trade Tarasenko.

In that scenario, we don't move Tarasenko. There may also be a mutually agreed upon framework for a more lucrative deal for Perron, keeping him from signing immediately with the knowledge that a Tarasenko trade will free up more cap space.

Yeah, it is definitely a risk. Guess we will see what happens but I just have a feeling that Perron is coming back.

Would Perron want to hedge that bet? What if the trade doesn’t work out and his suitor turn elsewhere? Then he is stuck with lower offers?

It f***ing sucks so much that we are stuck with Scandella. If we could move him, we would have already done so by now.

Also, I’m personally going to really dislike it if we lose Perron (a guy who might be more loyal to STL than anyone) and keep Tarasenko after he publicly requested a trade and hasn’t rescinded it.

Ugh. This next week might be hard to stomach.

Trust army baby. He'll figure it out and i bet we end up with a nice prize when it's all said and done.... possibly one that rhymes with lickryn :D:naughty:

I think we can get quite a bit out of signing Nakita Zadarov or Ian Cole. We need a left shot defenseman to pair with Parayko and could really use one that can actually knock someone on their ass seeing as how most of our defense is utterly feckless. At the very least the price would be right and not cost us all of what Army Jr. is trying to overcharge for the kid in Arizona. Sell Scandella for a bag of pucks or just buy him out and try to move Tank to open up the space to sign Perron or maybe really take a shot and go after Geno?

At this point I have no clue what Armstrong is going to do/plans to do. We heard so much from the National guys about trading Tarasenko and then nothing and now reports that we might keep him and let Perron walk. Armstrong should honestly go and work some spy agency cause he's pretty good about telling giving away nothing

The thing with Perron is that he is 34 and has a history of concussion issues. People forget that he was a ghost from like November to February. If any non-Blues team wants to give him the bag he's chasing then so be it. At the end of the day, if he wants to remain a Blue, and cement his legacy as the next Bobby Plager in terms of Blues ambassador, he will.

I wonder if Perron will go to a team on the come up like the Devils, Sabres, Senators, etc.... Because if he is looking for a 6 Million AAV there are very few clear cut contenders that can afford that amount

Perron should chase the money if the Blues aren't going to allow him to return/retire on his terms. I'd be all over him if I were Edmonton. They've suddenly got a ton of money to play with.
