Maybe we make a deal with Philadelphia.?

Krug for Provorov with flavorings added here and there. Unlikely, but a fun one to think about.

I wonder if Krug has submitted a so-called “short list”.

Was this “gauging of interest” a serious thing?

His defense and advanced stats have been in decline since our Cup season. He has been guilty of horrific turnovers, especially during the Avs series. You can’t have that out of a shutdown guy.

I'm really anxious about how this offseason unfolds, definitely feeling the pressure knowing what Doug has to sort through. I've known from the second JBouw went down that was a massive loss and here we are several seasons later going "Y'all got any of them 24 min a night, brutal D zone deployment LD's we could have?".

Put me in the camp of being more than ready to move on from Tarasenko.

There’s no better time to trade him, us extending him is close to nil and he reportedly still wants out. Army did a masterful job of tamping down that story so it wasn’t a distraction this past season but they’d be pressing their luck to try that again. The talk would just intensify the closer it got to the trade deadline and he wasn’t extended.

I say, just rip the bandaid off and be done with it. Then use the cap space to re-sign Perron, Leddy (or someone of his caliber) and maybe someone else as well.

I can see both sides. I don't think there's any way we're going to be a better offensive team without him, but I also don't see him in the team's long-term plans so it feels like the right time to move him while his value is so high after a 30+ goal season.

I'm a big fan of the idea of buying low on a guy like Prov if that's truly how Fletcher and Co. view their position. Something tells me they value him more than this Twatter talking head would have you believe.

Are they trying to clear cap space? Is this the main reason? And avoid a long-term expensive extension?

EDIT: Appears to be a cap-clearing motivation.

For sure. Provorov is my favorite of the 3 names discussed this off-season, but I feel like the price isn't gonna be conveniently the pieces we want to move. But I'd be willing to pay more because he's exactly what is separating us from breaking through.

Looks like any Provorov trade would be for picks and prospects.

Therein lies the rub. I have no problem with parting with the assets for him, but Philly seems like they wouldn't accept/be a good landing spot for our salary. Krug is worse than a lateral move for them, Tank probably passes, and Barbashev/Scandella isn't enough cap space for us in the future. We'd need corresponding moves, which makes it invariably more complicated and a longer shot. And forget trying to figure this out midseason.

Move Tarasenko for the pieces to bring on Provo. If the team is confident Tarasenko will extend, then……. I think they have similar value.
